Why isn't your Barbarian a Half Orc?

Because I don't want it to be a half orc.

I am getting tired of people constantly thinking HO is the only race for a melee toon and asking why I TR'd into a WF barb instead of a HO barb. While HO barbs do have more dps, they are not the only race for a melee. Other races have advantages that HO can't get.

I haven't played my dwarf barb in ages. That's why I dont have a Half-Orc Barbarian.

I see tons of HO barbs, the good ones have great dps, but seem to be less resilient than some other races. Maybe it's just the 'kill em faster/take less damage' way most people tend to build them. Still, get them in a crowd and they seem to take loads of damage. I still see lots of well built WF and Dwarf barbs that, while slightly less dps, seem to be more hardy when things get nasty.

Just depends on playstyle. Personally, I prefer melees who can stand and fight when it goes really bad, and still be standing afterwards. Lots of HO builds can do this, but WF and Dwarf seem to accomplish it easier.

As far as other races, every race has things they bring to the table, just depends on what you like.

Ultimately, play what you enjoy! Almost any build can work if played well, and any build can be made horrid if played badly. Hard to play a toon well if you don't enjoy it!

If you want pure DPS from a Barbarian, then 1/2 Orc might be the way to go, however that is always debatable. I'm excited and can't wait for the next update when the 1/2 Elf Dillies go up to level 10. I just built a 18 STR 1/2 Elf w/ Cleric Dillie. So at the appropriate level he will have no fail on res and heal scrolls....(= Cleric lvl 10) and won't have to ever beg for heals, unless of course he is raged....

Anyways... I can't wait...

I think horc monks are the most bad@ss and Im TRing my horc fighter into a horc ranger next. Why not? Sounds like fun.

For me, it's primarily an issue of weapon choice. If I'm going toward all-out dps, GTWF Khopesh seemed the way to go and if you're doing that (even on a 36-point HOrc), it's hard to fit the Feats in for Khopesh Mastery and Frenzied Berzerker. For my Barbarian (Dwarf), going Dwarven Axes seemed a no-brainer.
