A third option for the form would be draining the 100 points of SP when you enter, and then returning those SP when you exit the form.

Great idea!
Perhaps they could come up with some kind of persistent effect that gives you a little bit of health every few seconds. Some kind of aura or something. And then they could totally come up with one that unleashes this huge burst of deathly type energy on everything around you, including yourself.
Maybe we could call the first one Negative Energy Aura and the second one Death Burst.
That'd be awesome.
Ditto.
My problem is that I want to save some SP by using the Staff of the Petitioner, but am, at least until I hit 18, holding a +3 Int scepter, which gives me around 50 HP to use that it'd be silly to waste. So, in my case, I toggle Lich form, then swap weapons. If someone tosses DW at the end of the buff cycle, rather than in the middle, that's 100 SP lost.

I'd mentioned this one briefly in another thread, but instead of adding more, they could re-purpose cloudkill.

vs

and 2 to 12 acid damage plus an additional 1 acid damage for every caster level up to caster level 20.
Creatures immune to poison are undamaged by this spell.
Swap the first ddo specific clause to negative (it's already a twist after all, so why not one more), and drop the second, and you end up with a lingering AoE as opposed to either a traveling one or a burst, that also has the side effect of beefing up undead encounters slightly without resorting to adding more hitpoints. (edit: As matter of fact, upon reflection, that might be enough of a boost to the effective hp to justify dropping the total a bit, which would likely end up helping melee out as well.)

I'd like to see improvement on PM such as at will form toggling or reduce the cost.
But the things that bug me most is that the form icon display is often bugged that when it indicates I'm in Lich form, i am actually not, and vice versa. This need to be fixed.
Another bug is the hidden DW. when DW is casted on me, there is no DW icon and i won't know before my first necrotic blast or death auro. For sure, if the DW bug is fixed and a PM is immune to DW, then there is no need to fix that icon display bug.

Your all crazy. PM is already too close to being overpowered. dont adjust the sp cost. the aura, if it effects you guys so badly.... then yea, change it. i see no issue with it. fix death ward yes, make lich/wraith immune. simple enough. quit crying about adding this and that to PM before they decide to nerf it. your already immune to nearly all statuses, can self heal like crazy, can solo practically anything and is just overall fun to be undead. ive not seen any builds more durable than a PM. the only way you can debate that is if you have uber gear, like nearly nothing but GS items, and even if, put a PM in that gear and he will leave you in the dust. dont let your greed get the best of ya. PM is doin just fine.
PM is in fantastic shape as it stands now. They certainly don't need any additional healing. The only thing which might be nice for PM is a couple more negative energy damage spells. As it stands currently, there is only the two death auras, negative energy burst and necrotic ray.
Necrotic ray is crippled by its additional level drain effect which causes it to be subject to Spell Resistance.
I'm not too thrilled with the fact that the negative energy spells we get to use are damage capped already by the time we get them. It would be nice to get something competitive with Polar Ray, DBF and Meteor Swarm.

[A] that's pretty much what we're looking for--negative energy spells. If they can be used on us, awesome, if not, whatever.
[B] My necrotic ray deals more than my disintegrate...except against targets with spell resistance. -_-;;
-fist shake- TUURBIIIIIINEEEEEEE!!!!!1!
Chain Lightning. Same damage as Polar and DBF but works almost on everything(including devils).
Anyhow necrotic ray is very cool spell and does good amount of damage. Crits fairly often also with superior void lore... buuuutt, spell pen for it makes it not so cool for situations where you really need that high damage.
I haven't tried yet with U8 what happens if I get deathward when I'm in form. Gonna try it when I've slept. I like PM but highest problem with it is DW. One thing is for certain, something ruins boon of undeath. Not sure what it is.

You need to reexamine necrotic ray. this has been changed to no cap for quite some time now. At 20d8 this thing is outdoing polar ray on any mob that saves up to 50% of the time at lev 20. With my PM"s lev 20 dc at 44 this means that anything with a 34 fort save or less. This is not even factoring in the negative level.

As mentioned above, though, Necrotic Ray's level drain sub-effect makes it subject to a Spell Resistance check as well as a save. Against Harry in a normal shroud, I have about a 75% chance to pass his SR. Unfortunately, a 25% chance for my spell to do absolutely nothing but drain 90 SP is far too high for it to be useful. Better off sticking with Polar Ray which has neither a spell resistance check nor a saving throw.
