Weapon advice for a newibe

Hi I have made a barb who is now level 6 and still using the +1 flaming great axe that I got from rolling, what I'm looking for is some advice on buying some new weapons. To start a upgrade to that axe would be nice but I'm not so sure what to get and don't want to waist my money, subsequently I would like to know what weapons I'm going to need for the future as well.

Do you have access to the Delera's adventure pack? If so run the Delera's Tomb chain as many times as it takes to get a carnifex. It is a great axe with a high crit range and crit multiplier. Later on you will be looking for a Sword of Shadows from the end raid of the Vault of Night adventure pack.

Carniflex from delera's will do for the single digit levels up until level 12ish.

In later levels, look for what is called a Bossbeater. If you are good aligned, get a Metaline greataxe of Pure Good with the highest + you can

Then you can start running the Vale for a good long while to get your materials you will need for your green steel great axe.

Then you can run epics to upgrade some items to epic items.

I know it may seem odd but woudlnt the hellstroke axe from chronospher be better?

IIUC, Hellstroke has a 3% chance of an extra free hit, which may or may not be a crit; Carnifex has +10% chance of critting for x3 dmg. I can't do the math in my head, but I'd guess Hellstroke is better against 100% fort enemies, Carnifex is better against everything else.

Carnifex is not just keen, it is keen PLUS. It crits on 17-20. That is 20% chance for crit. It is a young barbs best friend.

Hellsroke crits on 19-20 the extra strike chance is negligible in comparison to Carnifex.
