Default Is the intimidate check on Epic Demon Queen suppose to be as high as currently is?

    Hello all,

our guild decided to poke around in Epic DQ2 last night to see how it was different than elite. We are a tight bunch and enjoy doing epics together, so many of us had never bothered to join the many PuGs running DQ2 epic. I took my well-geared Tank in to see if i could hold her in place with intimidate/turtling up, as this is very sucessful on elite. My tank's primary method of holding aggro is thru threat generation gear, but his intimi-tank mode isnt bad either, let me break it down.

    Skill base 23
    Intimidate Ring 15
Epic gloves of the Claw 5
    Charisma 1
    Greater Heroism 4
    Skill focus intimidate 3
    Bull Headed feat 2
    Intimidate Enhancement 4
    Stalwart Defender 3 6
    Total 63

Now granted a Marilith is bigger than a Warforged, so there is a size penalty there, but when I roll an 18 and fail the skill check, it makes me a little sad. Sure you could get intimidate up higher, but you would be talking points into charisma, charisma gear, maybe a greensteel cha skill item. So my question is, is this the cost that must be paid to make this inimidate check or was her intimidate skill check accidently set too high due to typo?

It is rather high, around 80 I believe. I think that's reasonable for epic, given that many elite bosses are in the 70s.

Nope. thats right. 63 is a decent intim, but you need 70+ for epics.

Pretty sure she requires a 79 to no fail on epic. She's epic, man. I'd like to think that someone who didn't go balls-out on intimidate wouldn't be able to intim ANYTHING in the game. Since you tank via hate-gen, your intimidate shouldn't be as good as someone who focuses on it.

It is 79. Thread here: http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=245254

    Xyzzy on elite is higher.

With a 63, the hardest thing you can nofail intimidate is vod on hard; protip: that's pretty bad.

i think its 79 for no fail

70 + is easy to get

    deneith DM feat +3
    bard song +2
more cha +6/+7 should be what you have

i see you also have no luck bonus, you can get +1 from prayer (cleric spell) or +2 from head (GH raid)
then you have GS item / DT item (can give you +6)

even without the CHA, your 63 can become 76 just with items and buffs

76 is fail on 1-2, so 10% fail its more than needed

A moderate intim is great through for pulling trash, and you don't really have to sacrifice anything in order to get an intim in the 60s, especially on a warchanter.

Yeah I know. I was just being facetious. I'll be kissing 71 when I finally get my epic claw gloves, if I wanna burn one of the cha skills pots. Those final 9 points will be tough to make up. And only having ~700 hp on a regular basis I won't be tanking epic DQ any time soon. Stunt HP is almost 780 though But that only lasts 4 minutes I need more madstone boots!

my intim tank only has a little over 500 h/p and I do epic DQ all the time. The 45 DR helps tho :-)

79 is pretty tough to get on a non-human. While elite Xyzzy is 80, the puppies are much lower so it can be done with less - the puppies will just take more damage.

Wow, thank you all for the replys, some good info in there.

By and large, I am happy with my intimidate score. I usually keep my +threat/AC gear on full time and handle bosses that way. Like one of the posters mentioned, a decent intimidate is great for CCing the trash when you have a lot of AC and DR. After reading some of the responses, I have started thinking of ways in my head that I can get my intimidate close to the 79 that was posted as needed. I guess my next question is, should i bother given that A)Demon Queen is the only boss I can think of that i cannot use my threat to hold aggro and B) There is talk of a change coming to intimidate skill where it will not function as it does now?
