Technically you can have magical fireguns just like you have magic bows with magic ammo.
But i'd say mixing powder and magic can have nasty results, the older editions had the trait for malfunction.
But then again they also had potion malfunction and magic has kind of evolved from those days.

Guns are too mundane for this place, heh.
Agree with the steam punkyness but for the sake of rules lawyering i'd mention that siege weapons can be made magical, force fields are walls of force and there's various ways to build constructs like the dogs (and titan).

p.s. and speaking about that, at the far end of d&d magic steam punk setting lies the spelljammer, and at that point you do fight with cannons and hand guns, if only because you can't really fire a catapult without gravity.

i still have a small problem the designer states that gun powder doesnt work in this reality. ok fine then those powder kegs need to be replaced with something other than gun powder.

Sorry Edz, this isn't the Realms, although there do tend to be a dizzying number of Drizzt clones on most days if you stick to Korthos and the Harbor. Or at least a dual scimitar(khopesh) wielding drow ranger/fighter. If you're a die-hard D&D fan, then you know that Setting trumps (almost) everything when it comes to what a race/class gets access to. And basically, Drow were a slave race for the Giants of Eberron, or at least in Xen'drik. It's simply not a part of their culture on Eberron.
Somebody else talkin? Yeah, well Forgoten Realms was a bit after my time.
    Who the f is Drizzt?

    Default the only time...

The only time I don't like Eberron is when somebody quotes me "THIS IS EBERRON"...like the previous 30 years of D&D don't count or something.
