i am just wondering, is it possible to make an all out power sorc based in fire, cold lightning and acid, or are the AP's and spell slots too costly? i would love to build a sorc based on just them, if so would it be somewhat viable? i know nothing about sorcs to be truthful so know nothing of how tight AP's are

I've done this in 3 of my past lives. It's effective and I highly recommend to do that if your evocation DCs are high. Polar + Chain on harry(and other bosses) and chain lightning against any devil/orthon is lovely.

Well Chain Lightning is awesome against anything but fire creatures(you want to rather use cold for x2 damage) and air elementals/mephits. Only reason why I use to have fire/cold max too was wall of fire. Too useful in some situations that you don't want to start gimping it.

depends what else you want to give up. if you're not going to take any CC, you could get by just fine without spell pen enhancements, and probably even without cha enhancements. i'm pretty sure if you really wanted, you could free up enough AP to do it, you'll be less effective in other ways of course... but if you weren't planning on being specialised in those other ways, no worries

(that being said, you're going to want to be able to CC effectively if you plan on running epics... so my advice is to take heighten, spell pen, and greater spell pen feats anyways, since that leaves you just an enhancement reset and a few spell swaps away from being able to CC decently)

Sorcerer -- somehow it just doesn't bring crowd control to mind. No, with massive spell points it brings death and destruction to mind.

Can you squeeze in mass hold and disco ball? These are the only crowd control spells I'd waste my time on.

Otherwise it is all about the death and destruction.

Of course, if you camp out in epic content your POV may be different.

When I had this 4 elements line setup, I didn't take extra AP from spell pen or any form of CC.. My trick is to play drow so I don't need to use AP for stats nor over II tier toughness enhancements. Also with right gear you really don't care about extra sp sorcerer bloodlines gives you. I didn't have last tier in spell pen enhancements and not much improvement in metamagics but don't have them as a wizard either.

I'm sure it's possible. The only question: Are you loosing more then you are gaining?
Some of the other AP is very nice..

I'd do that build w/ Warforged. Self healing/extra hp is nice for a nuker, since you can jump right into the middle of battles. (battles will be chaotic, since you're crowd control won't be as good as a CC-specced sorc...)

Losing a bit sp, gaining 2 new elements.. I think it's worth it. If you are max damage nuker, I don't see how that affects CC other than being sorcerer instead of wizard.

EDIT: Forgot not all have past lives. Yeah, you can't fit in greater enchantment focus & spell pen with greater evocation focus. I have +2 spell pen and +3 evoc focus from past life to make it easier. I really forgot. Been doing this TR stuff for so long.

hah well am gonna build a wizard for all the subtle stuff, and a sorc just to go crazy ^^ its just my idea of the classes
