OO dont talk about ERRIIK hes super secret.....as for your opinion heres a truth....
most people who would use myddo in the negative way you think would also info the people they denie on why and suggest how they fix the problem.....
without myddo i dont take people i dont know into epic runs ....with my ddo i met many people who were very capable of completing the runs....
thus your thoughts of it being against and negative are INVALID as is your HOLY STICK

Really there is no reason why you shouldn't want MyDDO, it has a lot of useful features. I assume you believe the majority of players are using it for nefarious purposes but it allows you to do more than just screen people coming into your groups.
- It allows you to blog about yourself and your characters.
- Lets people see your intrests, what you enjoy and dont enjoy about DDO.
- Allows you to check your own raid timers so you dont have to swap characters if you dont have an excell spreadsheet or similar.
- You can follow other peoples XP for people who are leveling differently scaled builds(32, 34, and 36pt builds)
- Access to your characters information without logging into the game.
And dozens of other things that elude me at the moment. Point being, If you really don't want your characters to be shown to the world make them anonymous, but don't remove MyDDO because of that one angst. MyDDO has more potential than that.
OK, you win. There have been persuasive posts in this thread to warrant the stabilization of myDDO. It would be helpful if some of the currently broken features were fixed. I hope that it is also possible to realign the segment of the population that WILL use it for more reprehensible purposes.

ok back on topic.
Just checked my toons on MYDDO, they have all been out of 'sync' for a while, wrong levels, incorrect items etc.
Well they are now all correct!!!
I then checked a guildies toon who (though on her first TR) never appeared on MYDDO and now she is there
Does this mean it is fixed/bring fixed?
NB this was done via the website, not in game, will check that in a bit.
'Live Long, Play Longer'
I like MyDDO for certain things, but I hate how people will try to turn this game into WoW. What do I mean? WoW is very unforgiving to new players. If you don't have the optimal gear, you don't get excepted to parties. To get that gear, you need to do those raids and quest. So you are pretty much in limbo for much of the game, unless you are fortunate to join a really good guild (And the good guilds have too many fanatics that would probably give up their first child if WoW commanded it, you guys who play WoW know what I mean.)
I know there are some DDO "Elitist" who can't understand this concept, but trust me, everyone should have a fair chance to do all quest, even if they don't have what some people call "perfect" gear. This game is supposed to cater to new people, otherwise this game would have been shutdown a long time ago.
If anyone is really afraid that someone in a party is not pulling their weight, there is something called a "Guild." This allows you to group with people who you believe are "good." There are many well organized guilds on DDO that have set raid dates/times and run quest together.
There is already enough discrimination on races and class on LFMs, last thing we need is gear discrimination too. All it takes is a small number of people to have a set belief (i.e. using MyDDO to determine who is good) and others will follow, whether it is right or wrong, basic human psychology 101.
Trust me, discarding MyDDO is the best for the community, at least the gear portion.
I think this "nefarious" purpose thing is a bit of a red herring. This makes the assumption that, without myDDO, the person being scrutinized would have even had a chance to get into the group to begin with.
Most people have a set of guilds they will auto-accept and auto-decline people from. MyDDO doesn't generally change this (although I have accepted people from a guild I would have normally declined after looking them up on myDDO). People are still going to auto-accept people from guilds they know and have had good experiences with and auto-decline people from guilds that have had a terrible experience with without ever looking them up on myDDO. Therefore, myDDO really only affects the "unknowns". People from guilds you have never heard of or really haven't played with and unguilded people.
Before myDDO, if no one in the party had any real experience with the person/guild hitting the LFM you had 3 choices -- accept them, decline them, or let them sit out there in the hopes someone more familiar would hit the LFM. After myDDO, a 4th choice is added -- look them up on myDDO and make a decision based on that individual's hit points, gear, stats, etc. Thus, I think myDDO is only beneficial. Yes, people are looking up others on myDDO but I think it generally only results in more "unknowns" being let into parties than not.
While it is true that equipment doesn't really tell you how good a player that person is, it is an indicator. If the fighter who just hit the Hound LFM started with an 8 Con, has no fort, and has a few items of Korthos gear on, that person probably doesn't have much knowledge of the game. You can look at someone's stats and equipment and generally tell if they have a working knowledge of the game. It's not absolute but it's a pretty good indicator. I don't think people expect the absolute best gear for every quest but what the person is wearing shows if they know the game at all. It doesn't have to be the best, it just needs to be reasonable.

hard to explain it to someone that obviously does not want to understand anyway.
myddo is not (or only a really small portion) about gear. and yes, in ddo you need certain gear under certain circumstances to carry your weight. if you don't intend to carry your weight anyway, stay the heck out of my lfm and run your own.

I fail to see the "nefarious" uses of MyDDO. I will screen people for ToD, for difficult epic quests etc. Not for Shroud or VoD.
I do not lead groups for charity. I do not want to run quests where person X, Y or Z does not constructively participate in the run. If it is possible for them to constructively participate or not, due to poor gear/build/playstyle is not an issue for me. If they can't, do not join.
