This type of behavior would definately ilicit a throwing my toys moment and if I was the one putting it up for roll not only would he get a lecture, he would have to make a clear justification as to why I should allow him to out roll the classes to whom that item is specific.

Say this after the Tempest Ring drops in ToD, the 2 Tempest Ranger builds roll for it, then a certain cleric rolls and wins it....cause hes a .........!!!!!!!!!

Thats right. And the player wasn't a noob or someone who didn't understand etiquette.
And I haven't seen it drop in 18 runs since (over 3 toons)

Hmm a monk has limited use from them - would it help his healing ki? Perhaps. Not got one so not sure. The fact that he told you he needs cash like that - I wonder was it before or after he took them out of the chest - maybe he wanted you to bribe him. TR loot is less likely considering his response to you. My money is on new player. Either that or very experienced player taking them for TR and giving you a character response calculated to annoy you when you pm him about it.

Either way, it was down to the man who put the gloves up for roll. In that scenario I would have discounted the monks roll and passed to you anyway. I would first have mentioned this was my intent in party chat, allowing the monk to respond with "I am JUST about to TR. The only reason I am in here is because I want the gloves when I level my new healing toon." Then I would pass to the monk as he won the roll. And it's nice to have twink gear. Any other response - "Hey I won the roll" I might ask him why he wants them, but the eventual result would probably be the cleric getting the gloves. But the annoying fact is that your loot is yours to deal with as you wish. Most people have etiquette regarding loot, but it is sadly no more than etiquette.

Best of luck getting them - they drop pretty frequently tbh so it might not be so long before the balance is redressed.
It's a game. GAME! Only a game. say it with me now - GAME. There. That's better.

Why didn't you offer like 10k plat for them? Or 20k plat? Or maybe more?

If someone is greedy, then you have the advantage. Use the advantage, don't complain about it.

Easiest way to solve loot drama is to not even look at what the other players pull out of a chest. Just worry about what you get, and do what you want with it. So what if someone else gets a +125 uber Halberd of disembowelment? Even if all they intend to do with it is hang it about their fireplace. Congratulate them and move on. As the great Buddhist philosopher Kurtis Blow once said "Those are the breaks".
