I think it's so that you can't give guild pots to a character that you have that is either guildless or in a guild without that vendor unlocked.
I also was taken aback by this change and am not in favor of it. At the very least I'd like to hear an official explanation behind the change.
I honestly can't understand why these are only available there anyhow. So what, if I see a barbarian on an LFM for one of the billion quests where devils do a healing curse, I need to double-check that his guild is high enough level for him to be able to handle his own curses? /******** and no thanks - these potions should be standard gear, not exclusive based on your guild affiliation (either that, or the amount of healing curses that are occurring should be considerably reduced).

When did the remove Potions of Curse Removal from the normal vendors? Or am I missing something else about this?

Ahh, in doing some research it looks like the Guild Pots are different than the normal vendor pots for remove curse to enable them to be used while raging...sorry for my uninformed question
