I do not think 'can't means what you think it means.
You actually can TR you just don't want to.
And yes I understand because grinding to get those tomes again is a real grind.

Hey you can still be completionist. Even if you ate six +4 tomes. The mechanic works fine.
Had several toons lose +3s and one lose a +4.

You seem to be unwilling to pay the price to TR.
This is the deal.
Same as since TR came out. This is the price to TR.
Either pay it or don't pay it. But don't say you can't...because you most certainly can.

If you are going for completionist anyway, losing +3/4 tomes is no big deal because a set of easily available +2 tomes plus the completionist feat is more than equivalent to a set of +4 tomes. The real gripe is for people who either already have completionist before using their tomes, or who just want a couple more past life feats and have no intention of going for completionist. They are the true losers in the tome equation.

I agree... and I wrestled with TR'ing one just because of five +3 tomes she had eaten before any TR was even possible. I grinded for replacements for her - three +3's and a +4 and then TR'd her. Then wrestled with does she eat them or not... I then decided to go ahead as my fun is not in the TR grind but the end game loot grind (which is a constant changing thing).

not even a tough decision for us except for the long grinding exp chart
