Is it just me, or is it common courtesy in raids...

Is it just me is it common courtesy in raids to wait at least ten seconds (preferably more) for someone who has dc before you loot the end chest? Someone dc in VoD during the exploding bats and people just ran to the chest even though people said on both text and voice not open the chests.

10 seconds is a little short, I know if I get DCd from my internet acting up it takes 3 minutes at least before I can get back in the game. Reset router, restart client -and with a computer crash can take 5-7 minutes to get back on.

My rule of thumb: Wait 4 minutes (long enough to recover from a bluescreen), then boot them from group, then open chest. If you know that they just want completions , remove the 'boot from group' part.

In general 5 minutes is normal. 10max for known connection problems ppl.

But alot of people can't read. Or even follow simple directions. So there's that. Plus mistakes happen.


But some 'special' people i won't wait even one second for. I'll pretend i have no idea someone is disconnected, pop that chest and say 'oops, sorry'.

And laugh insanely at my lucky chance for payback. Opportunity doesn't knock twice.

It's midly anoying when someone DC when it time to loot but so what. **** happends and 5 min is a acceptable amount of time to elapse before going ahead and opening the raid chest. Anything sooner is childish, rude, disrespectful and usualy get 2-3 people that don't want to group with me again cuz ill chew them out right then and there if they decide to just go and crack her open anyways.

Anything other then raid chest I would say if its a zerging group then expect to come back with open chests and no loot if not then for chests of high intrests they should be waiting for you.

But rarely ever see problem in raids with it, most people suprisingly wait for the leaders 1-2-3 count down to open the big chest. Even if they didnt follow instructions the entire raid... wierd right?

I actually stop casting or doing anything fight related when the boss hits 5% and just sit at the spot the chest will spawn clicking empty space. If you can get the chest to open the moment it spawns (as in your opening it before its visible) then all your loot will be named items.

I say at least 5 minutes and would be willing to wait 10 myself or more if I knew the person and that they might need more time then that.

Unless I am completely forgetting how VoD works the guy DC'd before the boss was killed, should the raid have just stopped fighting for 5 minutes and waited for him to reconnect?

As far as I know, this is utter nonsense. Anyone who is in the instance when the chest is *opened* can get loot.
Therefore, yes. It is common courtesy to wait a few minutes before popping a raid chest if someone DCed.

Unless it's a multiple instance raid like Shroud, if I see someone DC'd at the end I'll usually just get up and go make myself a drink, check the mail, etc. If I'm the leader of the raid, 5 minutes, boot, open.

2-3 minutes at least, unless the player in question was a ****** during the quest, then it's a race to the chest.
