I think you miss my point. I'm completely fine with 10kpp for a tome (or even the base 2750). I really don't care about it, it's just a change to buy pots from. It was suprising to say the least that they simply just started to sell for about 2-3 times the plat they used to.

Never buy anything from the AH. In fact, don't even look in the AH.

    Best advice evah!

It's totally true, I have a reliable source. You better reroll now.

The price of an item in the AH is irrelevant unless it sells. Unfortunately, the high prices are also most noticable; because they don't sell, they're listed for longer.

But abnormally high prices are no reason to complain - if you're looking for a +1 dex tome, and I list one for 100kpp, you're still better off than if I just hadn't listed it; at least now you have the option to severely overpay if you're desperate. If you choose not to, you're no worse off than if I hadn't listed the time.

    Just creating a giant gap.
There are still some good deals to be had though. Was equipping a lowbie alt the other day and grabbed +3 mithril chainmail the other day for 3k pp, as well as flaming burst pure good light hammer and a pure good holy light mace for less than 5.5k pp each. Sure there were posts for similar stuff at 10x the price but people are posting stuff cheap too.

Not disagreeing with you that stuff is being way over priced. When posting I always try to undercut the cheapest buyout for comparable gear. That is the only type of regulation I think we can expect.

ABSOLUTELY not. Some of these other tomes are higher than str tomes that are usually higher anyways...
[backwards day]Your suggestion worked very well at keeping prices low and supply adequate for the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe.[/backwards day]

Everything is worth what its purchaser will pay for it. This is the ultimate law of all economic activity.

If that tome isn't worth the price listed, then no one will buy it. Problem solved.

I had an ML 10 +1 Paralyzing Longbow that I had put Frost on during the Ice games. I needed to do some inventory shuffling and I didn't want that bow to get sold or lost during the shuffle, so I parked it on the AH for 300,000 plat so that I could get it back in the mail the next day when I was ready to use it. I put it up for 300,000 plat since I didn't want anyone to buy it and I couldn't be bothered to run back to the mailboxes while I was doing all this.

    Someone bought it.

I don't know why someone would pay 300,000 plat for an ML 10 +1 Paralyzing Longbow with the added Frost (it wasn't even Icy Burst), but they did. I went shopping for a replacement Paralyzing bow and I paid MUCH less than 300,000 for its replacement. I'll put Icy Burst on it in a couple of weeks.

Who knows why some people put up auctions for such a rediculous price. Who knows why some people buy some of the garbage I put up on the AH occasionally?

That's the beauty of the free market. Everyone gets to choose what they are willing to sell and everyone gets to choose what they are willing to buy.

I can understand why a Wizard might eat a +1 Tome at level 3 since she is putting her level up points into Int and that will give her an extra couple of permanent skill points on her character, but for anything else, I really don't see the need for a +1 stat tome.

You'll be level 7 by the end of the week anyway. Why not wait for that?
