Get Better Ads

My friend just notified me of something i never really noticed, on many websites, the sidebars have commercials for ddo, that involve broccoli and fighting traffic. He told me, they are really, really annoying, and made him hate ddo before anything else.

This sort of makes sense, i doubt new players come and play ddo because they thought "hey, im fighting traffic and in that game there are dragons", and seeing that constantly as advertising for a game could get sort of irritating.

Personally, i like new players coming into the game, more random PuG material if nothing else, i would suggest getting better ads, maybe short videos of gameplay, or screenshots of the game.

Also, dont make them have auto-sound, it irritates people more than anything else.

This is simple marketing strategy and I am amazed Turbine did not employ a competent marketer.

All those WoW adds that are spammed everywhere, including TV......Make me Hate WoW. Just like your friend hates DDO because of the adds, I hate WoW because of the adds.
They are beyond annoying to me.


The problem with advertising, along with everything else really, is that adds are only going to appeal to certain people. It applies to TV shows, movies, music, books, car designs, colors, landscaping......everything.

No matter how hard they try to please everybody and draw in the biggest number of people, they just won't be able to do it.

Most of DDO's ads are jokes. I think that's part of the reason it took me so long to play it :/

The only thought that popped up into my head is "Okay, so obviously the game's designers think they're funny...and probably aren't very serious about this project. I don't want to play a game created by idiots."

In an action-noncartoony game you need something to draw people in. DDO is Action/Adventure (anyone says RPG and I will personally stake your heart out, whoever says it's an MMORPG is a liar) and it needs advertizements that fit accordingly.
