Default Squishy sorc - HP or Reflex ?

    Hi
I have a lvl 20 sorc who rocked Stormreach but is proving to be rather squishy in Amrath and Epic quests.

My first instinct was to make her a shroud HP item to bring her HP from 320 to 365 but then I noticed her reflex save is only 13. I could get it to 18 with a shroud reflex item.

I still think the HP are the better plan, but what does the crowd think? (Yes, of course she has toughness and a minos legens).

    thanks!

i doubt +18 is going to be enough to help much, personally. i'd go with the hit points.

(on a side note, do you use all your defensive spells? i've noticed an odd trend lately where people seem to not use any defensive options like stoneskin, fire shield, displacement, etc)

The HP item is much better.

Think of it that way: The HP item will help you against any source that deals damage. Reflex save only against traps and spells that have a reflex save.
This doesnt even include that 18 reflex will be too low endgame.

At that level your skills as a player make more of a difference.

Almost everything there's a reflex save for can be dodged. Practice with a fire elemental - they're the easiest. Monster attacks can also be easy to dodge by moving around as they do their attack animations.

I wouldn't personally make a saves item. HP is always good especially if you plan on TRing, but 320 hp is almost the same as 365... how often do you die with less than -50 on the hp count?

As was stated above, there really is not much of a difference between 320 and 365 at end game. And, most all reflex and fortitude saves can be dodged. In epic play, I have found that will save is the most important. For those spells, no rays or AOE effect need be landed. Even for a WF sorcerer, in epic play, spells like command can be a bother, especially if you solo play. My personal preference is therefore to push my will save to the limit.

Take Protection from Evil lvl 1 spell, or keep lvl 10 Protection from Evil wands on you and command or greater command will not trouble you anymore. Once you have the Kundarak boots, your pretty much immune to Will save based spells.

Also, on Prot from Evil, it adds 2 to all saves against evil casters, even though you dont see it on your character sheet.

I'm not a huge fan of min/max builds, but a pure sorc is where it is most useful. Max out Charisma and then put everything else into Con. Get two shroud items - 1 with + cha skills and 150sp (300sp on a sorc). Then get an HP item. You can add 45hp from this item. If you have the Minos Legens helm, you can skip the heavy fort/prot 5 and maybe have Smokescreen on the HP item (perm-blur).

You will have to cleanse one of the shroud items so you can wear both at the same time, which requires 20 shroud completions and getting the cleansing item as your 20th reward.

I don't know what class you are, but it is easy to get a human sorc to 435-455hp. This is very helpful in epic as I'll see 200-350 points of damage at once which gives you enough to quickly scroll Heal (if you maxed your UMD which is extremely helpful on non-WF sorcs).

    Hope this helps.

The 45 from shroud hp plus getting another 20 from +2 con on a tod ring and another 20 from +2 con ship buff (or tome bracket or 40 from yugo pot) and you'll be riding over 400. On their own, none of these hp blocks is that much, but with all of them combined... that's 1 or 2 hits taken in epic.

Plus keeping your survivability buffs going... rage, displace, stoneskin, necessary resists, elemental protection (recast when it gets ticked down), fireshield when appropriate.
Haste and jump to allow 'Player controlled dodging'.

The other benefits of a shroud hp item on a sorc... +6 to concentration and something useful even on epic trash like earthgrab guard. Depends on whether you roll with quicken 100%. (Assuming your SP item was used to get more UMD.)

assuming a fleshy sorc, you'll be relying on scrolls for healing. concentration helps scrolls, quicken does not.
