How to be an awesome sixth wheel

Last night, four guildies and myself decided we wanted to try epic Devil Assault. Unfortunately, we had no caster, so we elected to pug it out. We got a caster named Blehz. AND HE WAS AWESOME.

For those of you who have not done EDA, it is absolutely harrowing. I chugged more pots than I feel comfortable admitting to. And, if you haven't run with Nothing Personal, all I can really say to explain our modus operandi is what we say in vent before pretty much every quest, which is "balls to the wall." I'm sure you can do the math and figure out how our questing usually goes. It's fast paced and chaotic beyond all reason.

I say this so you have some context to what Blehz was walking into. I'm pretty sure he didn't even realize we were doing it on epic until he clicked on the door. All said, though, he took it like a champ. We only had one death, in part due to he and I drinking pots like water. And I fully intend to send off some pots once I log in tonight. Just wanted everyone to know what a good sport and what a steely mother lover Blehz was. If he hits your LFM, take him! And give him all of your devil scales. He deserves it, for putting up with us during such an intense epic.

Balls to the wall, indeed. Most of us had at least run the quest before on a different difficulty, but none of us had done it on epic. So we all knew going in that it would probably suck. I was expecting a glorious wipe, but it never happened!!!

Blehz was absofrickinlutely amazing. He CCed mobs like a total pro, and I tossed him pots as a thank you. Suffice it to say, he had a blast (from what he said), and so did we. Cheers for a great run!!!!

I had one epic run with Blehz the other night. He was the last to join the PUG and he was confused as to where/which quest we were doing and made a few comments that did not inspire confidence in the other team members. We even had one person that was ready to drop before the quest even started so we wouldn't put his cleric friend through a pot drinking binge. We were all prepared for the worst.

We get started and holds are landing, monsters are dieing, and caster doesn't suck.

Some people, like myself, are just born awesome and don't need to unimportant stuff like where a quest is or what difficulty we're going in on. Just point us and let us shoot. Good show Blehz!

If you're drinking alot of pots I would be happy to show you how to do it without using to many/no resources. Its a great loot run just dont bring the gimps.

The biggest factor in the resource expenditure was that only one person was using a dreamspitter on the held/stunned mobs. We should run Blehz through Reaver a ton and get him one to help his holds in all the right ways...

Ya, I've gotten lucky and had Blehz stumble into a PUG or 2 of mine. Solid player.

On a similar note, want to send some props to a KA player by the name of Hadam. I typically don't run with KA players but it was late and we desperate to complete our epic Last Stand PUG. Hadam comes in and admitted he was "kinda n00bish". After a short period of uncomfortable silence, I said "what the hell...let's give it our best shot". He executed my instructions flawlessly and his hold DCs were without fail (indicating an excellent build). We completed so easily it hardly felt like an epic at all.

In a similar vein, there's a HOrc running around Orien named Daggorond. What a guy! I've never seen him join a PUG and not just blow away everyone in terms of DPS!

Not going to lie, it was a crazy ride through the whole quest. And Blehz really took it in stride.
We thought that we were going to fail but at the same time atleast get a feel for the quest, but it was a total 180 once we got things started. And really it was in huge part thanks to this random PUG Blehz. He truly went above and byond our expections for this quest.
There were times when it just seemed like these mobs wouldn't stop coming, but we got coordinated and managed to beat them off... this time. ( hehehe )
But really, Blehz was able to just pick up on what was going on and stay on beat with everything we were doing.

I played DDO this past summer on Thelis and Khyber as a wizard and then a sorcerer, respectively, then I quit for a few months, and a little over a month ago I made my new sorcerer, Blehz, on Argonnessen.
I have to say this is my favorite server of the three!
Because my wonderful guild Battlehammer does not have many level 20's I am pretty much always in a PUG, and have to say that most of the time it works out for me.
I just want to give a big thank you to all of those who have grouped with me on Epics and other various raids.
Thank you for the great run to Boxylady and the others from Nothing Personal and Thanks a lot for the Pots!!

Right now my mass hold DC is only a 36 with ship buffs, which is the main reason why I needed a lot of pots in order to CC devil assault, but also because I didn't know what was going to come out of those portals. In the future, I think I'll need much less pots for this quest.

Also, once I TR and make myself into an archmage wizard enchanter, I think I'll have a better build and be more useful for all Epics quests.

If anyone needs a CC sorc for Epics, or for any raids, just hit me up.
