Default Shifters, the OTHER big Ebberon Race

Why hasn't shifters gotten any attention in DDO yet? I hope they're considering putting them in with the Druid patch that's coming "soon™". Would also give the Half Orc haters another race that'd give them +2 strength.

    Shifters:
    http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/roe_gallery/88207.jpg

Weretouched humanoids, with a power to shift into something akin to a rage(same duration) giving them enhanced stats and other things (with APs spent)

Longtooth: Wolf like +2 Strength shifters.
    Razorclaw: Catlike +2 Dexterity shifters.

(above is the simple version, it's been expanded by alot by splat books: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_of_Eberron#Shifters for more information)

EDIT: after a bit of discussion. Maybe making shifters work like Half Elfs would work well. Make shifter 1 race choice, then at lvl 1 have them choose an animal totem feat (like half elf dilletante feat at lvl 1) then give them new feat and enhancement choices based on that choice to further advance in their chosen "beast path"

I would imagine that it has to do with the same reason that we haven't seen Druids yet; no easy/good way to do shapeshifting. Personally, my suggestion would be to do something like Mordenkainen's Disjunction or Bladesworn Transformation, but I am not sure everyone would be happy with that.

In D&D, Razorclaw gets +2 strength. However for a DDO version it would make sense to take Longtooth/str, Razorclaw/dex, and Beasthide/con, so as to have a simple pattern covering the physical stats.

shifters shouldnt be to hard to do they dont have a large physical change so the graphic could be considered to small to be noticed at least at first just so they could add them. the stat bit isnt hard for them to do either. would be nice to have at least one more eberron race.

Yeah I saw in the wikilink that it was alot more complicated than I first thought, with over 10 diffrent traits, I think keeping it simple like your example would be a smart thing to do.

Maybe even just make it one race choice then a feat at the start to choose your animal totem (like half elf dilletante). Then give them traits / enhancements, to further advance their beast totem feat (or whatya callem)

I havent seen on in action, but couldnt it work like Pale Master? I dont think a shifter fully changes into an animal. From what I have read in Eberron books, they just look more animal like. If thats how it works, then Shifter could work like Pale Master; you simply take on some physical changes, and gain access to the enhancement bonuses.
The problem is never how to get new, innovative thoughts into your mind, but how to get old ones out. Every mind is a building filled with archaic furniture. Clean out a corner of your mind and creativity will instantly fill it.

Shouldn't be that hard to implement if the Devs stuck to just those Shifter traits that appear in the campaign Guide( Beasthide < +2 CON and +2 Nat armor>, Longtooth < bite attack>, Cliffwalk < + 2 DEX>,Razorclaw <+2 STR and claw attack>, Longstride <+2 DEX and increased speed> and Wildhunt < + 2 CON and scent, which wont work here>)

Most of these would take some fudging to fit DDO, but should be doable. Seeing as extra Shifter traits are taken as Feats, and the number of times you can Shift per day is limited by CON score and number of Shifter traits, Shifters are innately self-limited.

I'd love to see them as the new mobs to kill.... but not as a playable race.

    just my 2 cents

Dude, we need Shifters...if only so I can stop referring to my Dwarf chars as midget Shifters in my Bio.

shifters would b about the only thing to get me to TR my main again.

well thats a lie. A good Juggernaut PrE that doesnt interfere with class enhancements might make me go back to WF.

    so either / or

I like the idea of making them similar to the Half Elf del feats.

wolf could grab extra str, maybe some tactics, and a bonus to melee damage (does not scale with THF). would give a TWF racial option since half orc is the THF specialist

cat could do dex, have a bonus to unarmed weapon dice, and maybe something like additional run speed

personally I'd rather see maybe a snake with Int boosting rather than a con based shifter. not too attractive for wizards, but could have enhancements that are rogue aligned. +2 int, 10% stacking blur, & maybe something like +4 Base damage when flanking. (SA's would infringe too much on both halflings and the half elf)
