Doughnuts? Who was talking about doughnuts? Fat Boy!

I think someone has had a few Drams per Second of some alchemical potion that Hath made him lose his senses.
Got a question the answer may be on the wiki! http://ddowiki.com

The larger point was that it was unrealistic to expect new players to spend that kind of money... which is why most people don't run at level, which is why most leaders don't automatically accept level 16's, which is why the OP is wrong).

The bit about a holy khopesh vs. a MoPG dagger was admittedly incorrect and based on my own incorrect intuition.
Just wanted to quote AtomicMew's post here because what he said is entirely reasonable based on the post that he was referring to at the time he referred to it. Unfortuantely, I had not yet fixed the mistake where I forgot to factor in Harry's 50% fortification on all difficulties. That actually made a significant difference with that example in particular.

Harry's 50% fortification doesn't change the damage that you get from Holy Burst, etc., but it does effectively turn a Khopesh with Improved Crit: Slashing into a 17-20/x2 weapon while the Kukri turns into a 15-20/x1.5 weapon.

heh funny, made a pug shroud with my level 14 rogue yday and it went very well, didn't even bother to ask to join a shroud since I knew i wouldn't be allowed to, one rounded part 4 and stayed on blades without diying on my 238hp str rogue who doesn't even have toughness feat or a gs hp item and that was w/o an intimitank so I can see how it can be done with a competent group of 14-16 only that don't skip on hp at early levels, pretty fun in those low levels actually, most where level 17-20 so I had no xp though, I did get a pm from a 15 telling me "GL TELL ME WHEN YOU WIPE LOL".

One thing I can tell you is that its not that they are elitist, is just that people don't want to risk a and they usually don't personally know you and don't feel like rolling a dice and hoping that you're a good player, not to mention that some people are less likely to come if they see level 14-16 toons slowing the formation of the raid, and as we all know, everyone is tried of the shroud and just want to get it over with as fast as possible.

With people who were 10x cooler, due to all having to learn together at the same time.

There were no "vets" in 2006 to teach you, or ridicule you for not knowing what they knew. When we pioneered all the raids, we were all up in it together with the same level of knowledge - none. We were not subject to the same newbie unfriendly environment that is in place right now. Who asked you to link boss beaters in 2006-2008? Who ripped on you as a gimp for not having 2 khopesh equipped? Who railed on you back then for your 6 month out of date MyDDO profile?

Saying 9 out of 10 newbies dont want to learn is just an excuse not to help out. An environment was created that makes them not want to pipe up and say its their first raid or admit lack of knowledge, but most DO willingly accept well intended help. People spend more effort griefing them, then ranting about this stuff on the forums than it would have taken to actually help a new player out. When the floodgates opened after F2P, which kept this game afloat, investing in the play quality on your server is the best thing we could have done. Since we didnt, the disparity we all knew would exist is still there. What else could we possibly have expected? For them to just figure out in ~1.3 years or less what you learned in 5, while you were in a much less noob hostile environment? Please.....
