I agree with above posts, this is in need of fixing.

The epic drop rates are just plain awful. All we need is a system to make epic components purchasable with epic tokens.

There are many ways to deal with this - your suggestion would mirror the current reaver's refuge system which although somewhat erratic, allows a decent chance of fulfilling your long term gear goals. I think this or a system of 20 epic completions would go a long way towards populating the rather sparse pug groups (through other commitments i simply cannot commit to high end raiding/epic guilds) and create a more realistic loot strategy. This would adequately replace my current tactic : hope and pray.
I guess I should clarify: I don't want a system that mimics the RR one - I think that the best way to run the system would be to charge a hefty sum of tokens for your choice of anything you want. Maybe 50 tokens for a non-raid seal, 75 for a raid seal, and upwards of 100 for raid components. Maybe incorporate raid tokens into the cost of raid components. That seems to be a reasonable number to me because it isn't so low that players could just grind tokens and have everything they want in no time, and it is a lot more reliable than crossing your fingers and sacrificing a goat to the loot gods for that elusive seal or shard you're dying for. I basically don't care how expensive it is as long as we have a system in place that players can make quantifiable progress with. Loot lotteries are terrible with so many items (especially with so many junk items as the desert has).

I can't sign this enough. My guild has basically stopped running desert epics, due to the fact there are much shorter quests that have comparable loot that are far far easier to get (fens).
Some toons with Cow in the name, and some without.
Opening the other desert side quests up as epics for focusing on particular explorer area items would be helpful as well.

I rarely sign anything, but I agree with the Shard Drop Rate in the desert, it so low in comparison to the sheer number of items the desert contains. Seals and Scrolls are fine as is, sure it's a long grind, but at least I can do it by myself.
Yes please.
Totally agree with the basic concept, but I dont really want it to come down to running X epic quest because of its dungeon token / time factor. As it is.. 100 runs of anything else is even better for your time than 100 runs of ADQ for 1 token on top added to the existing loot chance there. It's like there would be less reason to go in the quest!
This + higher loot chance in specific quests (desert in particular, and gianthold will also have this problem)

Too much punishiment and little reward, desert epics are so grindy thats looks like a asian MMO.
and desert raid scrolls...80 epics and only got to "see" one drop(i'm only run with guildies/solo so no ninja loot)
But maybe i'm just unlucky.

The reward-vs-intensity balance of the Desert needs to be reviewed. There are just so many items diluting the list that making even a single epic Desert item can take months--even for the most hardcore of hardcore players. (And even then, it might not even be an item you want/need.) Increasing drop rates of seals/scrolls/shards would help.
The nerfing will continue until morale improves!

I don't want to see the desert quests get any easier, but ****! do we need a higher droprate on this ****! Wiz King with 300 kills and no scrolls, EDQ 1 with no scrolls, seals or shards and one **** shrine to boot! Ugh!

Most of the people on my guild prefer doing Fens or VoN series on Epic with regular basis other than the Desert ones. These quests have lower drop rates despite beeing harder than most epic quests out there.
First time doing ATDQ1 on Epic had to drink 8 pots total, and at the beggining the rogue who was sponsoring it gave 5 to each caster. He had knowledge of what was gonna happen.
OOB requires a good trained and paced team, otherwise it can turn into a total disaster.
Chains of Flame might be the single hardest quest on epic out there, for I have never ever seen an LFM nor I managed to convince my friends to play a run on it with me. (Although, after learning a lot of how epic is done with my wiz, I can think of some new strategies...)
Wiz king is the sole expection, since a mage with good knowledge of the quest can pretty much solo it up. That's what I've been doing with my wiz, while my friends are playing on VoN/Fens I solo it up to all the bosses and say on guild chat "hey, guys, FREE CHEST ON WIZ-KING!!!"

Epic Against the Demon Queen is a great example of a serious problem with the loot rewards epic system; most of the hardcore gamers I know don't bother with it anymore because there is almost no character progression at all for running the quest. Most of the time no epic scroll drops and even if 1 or 2 drop they are divided among 6 people and the end chest shard droprate is attrocious. You are much better off spending your time in the Red Fens or Vault of Night to gear your characters out because after 30 minutes along with the time it takes to run out to the quest you only have a Dungeon Token to show for it. I want to see a token trade in system where 20 tokens buys you a scroll or seal of your choice or something and 20 raid tokens gets you a shard.

I've run eDQ religiously for MANY, many months (relatively strict with the timers) and have yet to pull the shard I'd like. Worse yet, the shard can only be pulled from ATDQ/DQ so I only get my meagre shot at pulling it every 66 hours (at best, if I can be online.) The chances of getting a particular shard of choice are literally miniscule, and even then you hope to pull a shard at all. Epic ATDQ is just useless and not worth completing (except perhaps once for favor/completion.) In comparison with other epics, the desert's discrepancy should be obvious and deserves looking at.
