Default Pale Master SLA damage formula, is it bugged?

I was testing the Pale Master (PM), Spell Like Abilities (SLA) and want to clarify the formula.

    Assumption
    • pure L20 wiz, PM3
    • Use Superior Nhil (clickie or pots) only. Eardweller could add 25% (from +75% to +100%) to the base damage, but it lasts for 3 x 1 mins only.

As I understand, the formula should be:
    • 1d6 x 20 caster level x (1 + 25% PM1 + 10% PM2 + 10% PM3 + 75% Superior Nihil = 220%)
    • so the total damage in theory should be 44-264. (22-132 if the target made a save)
    • let's assume 1d6 is implemented as 1d3+3, the total damage will be 176-264 (1d3+3 is suggected by CaptGrim and suggested in another guide)

The max crit chance should be +3% PM1 + 3% PM2 + 3% PM3 + 12% Epic Robe of Shadow. I don't concern the crit chance too much as we can't verify it anyway.

The max crit multiplier should be 1.5 + 0.5 Major Void Lore (e.g. Epic Robe of Shadow, Shroud of the Abbot). So the max crit damage should be 264x2 = 528

I tested the SLAs for a while with max damage gear and buff and the highest crit damage i have ever seen is 382 [updated], far from 528. Is it bugged? or the formula is wrong? or my sample size is too small?

I'm not sure but I've noticed the same thing, also it seems my aoe sla, hits harder than my direct damge one.

An off the wall guess would be that the caster lvl caps at 10 and 15 respectivly.

Run the numbers with caster level caps and see how that works.

Edit: I would use D3+3(or just 5) too as the numbers seem pretty consistant.

as i understand it, the item and enhancement damage enhancers should multiply... could be wrong though.

for elemental damages, enhancement and item are not multiplied. I don't see any reason negative damage will be different.

You could search the forum for any spell damage calculation and you'll get formula like:

dang. could've swore it was metamagics and enhancements that were added, then multiplied by item. sorta "everything from the character" * "everything from someplace else" kinda concept. guess i got that backwards
