Default Dragontouched Armor and Glacial Assault

This may seem like a dumb question, but I don't want to screw up on a crafting issue and I thought someone may know the answer.

I'm a recently capped WF sorc, and I currently have DT armor with the +100sp soverign attribute. I just pulled a glacial assault soverign rune, and I think I will eventually want to swap the +100sp attribute for the glacial assault. However, I have neither of the other glacial assault items right now.

Does the glacial assault attribute on DT armor provide any benefit if I have no other set items?

THe DDOWiki entry is somewhat ambiguous on this point. I'd prefer to keep the 100sp for now then add an attirbute which has no immediate value, and I can always just put the GA rune in my bank unitl I get another GA item.

If anyone can help answer this, I'd appreciate it, thanks!

You will need at least two items equipped to get the lowest tier of the set bonus. Once you get all three then you will get the full bonus.

If you're concerned about losing a good sovereign that you want to keep, you can always craft a 2nd docent. I've done this with melee more than with casters so I can have destruction on one set and maybe the +3 dodge on another.

I'm not sure what else you'd want for your sorc, but you don't have to choose just one. Its especially nice as docents swap out so quickly.

Totally make a 2nd docent. They swap fast, hotbar each.

Are you ever planning on making a Con cord item / greensteel SP item?

The greater elemental spell power doesn't stack with a shroud item.

Get Telvi's Sash from Amrath. The 9 minutes of +75% ice damage is more than enough with the amount of shrines in DDO quests.

Everything in here looks pretty accurate, so I'll condense it.

A Glacial Assault Rune on DTs does nothing at all by itself. It is made useful by combining it with the Gloves and Bracers. (So 0%/30%/50% per number of item(s) worn)

100 Elemental Energy SP does not stack with Shroud crafting. Assuming it is eventually your goal to make SP Goggles of some type, keep this in mind.

Make multiple Docents. Or, leave the rune in your bag - its not like it has an expiration date.

    Telvi's Sash
is a good way to avoid needing the Glacial Assault set bonus too early. It has three 3-minute clickies that are +75% damage to Cold spells level 8 and below. Currently, the text is bugged and says +50%; just trust us when we say its more.

To add, Epic Winter's Wrath also provides some cold damage benefits, if you find that waiting on VoD timers leaves you bored.

honestly, with telvi's sash i've found that i never really need anything else to boost my cold damage (well, i mean... i'd *love* to get an eardweller... but apart from that...)

9 minutes is a lot of time, especially when you consider that most of the time, i don't actually use polar ray. i have polar ray known for 2 reasons:

    1) it gives me something to do in part 4 and 5 of the shroud.
    2) it is occasionally necessary for actually dpsing my own mobs down, if they are immune to fire, holds, death effects, and charms and i have no melee types with me in the quest (though i try to avoid that if at all possible... CC is just so much stronger than direct damage, even on a sorc, not to mention more SP-efficient...)

really, to me at least, polar ray (and damage-dealing in general) is at best plan C or D. i keep it around because very rarely it is the only option that will work, and i have nothing better to fill a level 8 slot with atm... it is an extremely situational spell at upper levels, and indeed by the time you're getting polar ray any damage spell is pretty much situational at best. oh sure, you can throw the occasional wall of fire, and it's not useless or anything. but the simple fact is that i can throw a web or dancing sphere and get *way* more benefit from that then i'll ever get from wall of fire, and it will probably cost less too, especially over the long run.

    Or

Combined with that chronoscope item set to add more evocation caster levels too(not sure if it stacks though).

I don't have any of that to try out.
