Exclamation ATTN TURBINE: Tis the season ...

So I would like to know; how do we gift points to another player? A couple of officers in my guild aren't well-off, but full of pride to not accept my gift of points directly from the visa gift card I purchased with the sole intent of giving them points. Now I know that Turbine WANTS me to buy those points for them (cha-ching), but how do I go about purchasing points for another person's account if they won't copy the debit card info down and refuse my gift? I don't need access to their account, only to give my gift debit card number to someone at Turbine who can enter it on their account for me. Is there a phone number for this? A link?

Gifting points to another person would be a great way to increase Turbine's revenue stream, allowing families to have individual accounts and support eachothers' gaming without worry of continued or unexpected withdrawals from bank accounts, and also increasing support of social gaming. But there has to be a safe and secure method for the giver to do this, supported by an individualized commerce page on account.turbine.com that addresses a character name/ server name to background feed their account (so there is no need to know any of the reciever's password/ user info) or handling this information live via a phone call. It would also be nice if, when they log into the character select screen, there would be a note stating they were gifted points and who they were from. Thanks are always appreciated!

Hopefully I can get support on this from someone at Turbine. I'm sure there will be those who think selfishly and nay-say, or see this as feeding the greed monster, or many other jabs and jibes ... as I've seen in these threads all the time. But this is even something I've wanted to do for my son, and the only way to do it is to save my credit info into his account. I love my son dearly, but I don't like giving him opportunity to rob me blind when i could have just gifted points to his account and protected myself from him seeing the new best thing and rushing to buy points on my credit card without approval. There has to be a barricade between user info and financial info that still allows points to be transferred. Maybe even a system where i buy the points and donate them, as a points transfer; something to that effect would be just as viable. Lots of avenues to explore to make this happen, as long as all parties are protected in the gift giving.

Other than gift cards I have yet to solve this mystery myself. I've got a friend I'd like to gift some points to since he doesn't have quite the disposable income I have. I ended up getting him two cards from Gamestop.

    Hey guys,

You're right that points make great gifts. I'm happy to pass along your interest in gifting points to friends and family. This question does come up occasionally, and we are always looking for ways to improve our system. I'm happy to pass along your feedback and ideas. Please do keep in mind that this is not be a simple change to implement, as it does concern security and payments.

The current work around options we have are listed in this sticky. You can call (it's the same number in my signature) or submit a web inquiry with the list of required details.

Thanks again for the feedback, and I hope this helps, at least for now.
