    Default Kamaan Build - Repaired Defender

    Kamaan,

    I know that your are disappointed in your True Reincarnation build. I agree that an AC of 26 at level 9 is pathetic for a paladin. Also, since I got my level 10 with my second level of rogue and evasion I must say I am very pleased. I solo'd Taming The Flames Elite because of it.

    To fix this I have created a the Kamaan repair build. Since you are level 9 now and about to take 10. You should take 10 with Monk. If I was making this build from scratch, I would take my two levels of monk at level 1 and 10. The reason for the separation is you can take more in class skills with out the penalty of being forced to take out of class skills. The only two skills worth having in a paladin is Diplomacy and Intimidate. Where monk has Balance and Jump.

    Why did I choose Intimidate, Diplomacy, Jump, and balance? Your build is an itimitank. That means you must control the mobs agro (which is different than hate BTW). When you pull Mob in, all your friends get a flanking bonus, also they get the bonus of your aura for more AC, Attack bonus, saves, protection from evil and fear. The rouge also are able to use thier sneak attack with is very leathal. That is why rouges and pallys make a good team. The diplomacy is needed to shed agro if you are about to die and you need to rez the party cleric. The nice thing about the Diplomacy/Intimidate combination is that the MOB do not attack anything while the are switching targets. The balance is to get up quicker and to resist trips. Also, jump is needed to jump away from mobs if you get over your head and surrounded.

    Also, evasion only works with light armor. But still works with a shield. So get rid of that platemail and get some mithril breast plate. You also need to find a mithril tower shield. I have assumed that you will be blocking most of the time. The feats are centered around this. We can talk about the feat more in game but the improved critical bludgeoning and the improved shield mastery are about attacking with a shield. Still you need to attack sometime, Get a War Hammer. They have a x3 critical which is the same as that two handed great axe you are throwing around. Get a weighted one for stunning blow stunning the mobs is great! The auto crit it creates is very important for the x3 critical.

    Abilities choice was easy. To get dodge, and combat expertise, I have to have you Dex and Intel at level 12. Once you eat the tombs at level 3 you can take the feats which give a total of +6 to ac. Also the int is good for more skills and the dex is need to max your dex bonus in that mithril. Also, I never do a min max build because 6 ability points is too steep for the next bonus. Strength is the main ability followed equally by charisma and constitution I put 15 in both of those be cause a +1 toms are easy to get as well at a +6 ability item getting you back to even numbers. Strength is 16, +5 for level raising, +1 tomb, and +6 item for an easy 32.

    I hope it works for you. If you get a +1 wood we can move that monk level to 1 and the build will be slightly better.
