Ranger Past Life Feat Questions

I am considering TRing my toon into a pally. I am debating whether to pick up the ranger's past life feat for the barkskin since he will be built as an AC tank.

1. Is the barkskin clicky cost mana?
2. How long does the barkskin last?
3. Is the bonus a static +5AC or does it start at +2 and increase based on level?
4. If the bonus increases based on level, is character level or on ranger levels (I do not plan to take any ranger levels on my pally).

1. Is the barkskin clicky cost mana?
It costs no Spell Points to use.

2. How long does the barkskin last?
1 Minute per character level. It is also subject to metamagics (Extend, Quicken).

3. Is the bonus a static +5AC or does it start at +2 and increase based on level?
It is as if a ranger casted barkskin on you. +2 to start, +1 at levels 6, 9, and 12 (maximum of +5 at character level 12).

4. If the bonus increases based on level, is character level or on ranger levels (I do not plan to take any ranger levels on my pally).
