I myself do not care much for Skulls adorning my armor or equipment. The Skull cod piece I saw the other day was just a bit much.
In your quest for updating armor appearance, I would like to see the choice to dump the skulls.

I love the skulls.
I wish I could put skulls on all my armors and robes.

and this is why a real Choice in Armor appearances is a worthwhile thing.

Wouldn't that be an awesome crafting function? You could take the skulls of your dead enemy and affix them to your armor to get benefits. A bit morbid perhaps, but cool none the less.
NO SKULLS ON ARMOUR?
GTHO! (changed for forum)
skulls are awesome and should be on any armour.

Edit: I misread at first. I think the OP wants to be able to not have to look at skulls on OTHER people's armor. Fair enough. If the devs get around to improving the system, it would be nice if armor had "Tasteful" versions, and if a check box in the UI settings could make everyone's armor display as its "Tasteful" version. Kind of like the profanity filter, except for armor.
That way, the tasteless versions of armor could be even more tasteless, and anyone who minded could simply turn on the filter. This would make me happier, because I like tasteless clothing.

I'm continually amazed at what people are offended by. I don't have time to get offended at skulls in between slaughtering 100's of mobs per hour without so much as an afterthought (There's irony to be had somewhere here).
This is a game based on swords, sorcery and dungeon exploration. There will be skulls. It's unavoidable.
It will happen THOON™
Things worthy of Standing Stone going EXTREME PREJUDICE™ on.:
- Epic and Legendary Mysterious ring upgrades, please.
- Change the stack size of filigree in the shared bank to 50. The 5 stack makes the shared bank worthless for storing filigree in a human usable manner.
- Fixing why I don't connect to the chat server for 5 minutes when I log into a game world.
- Fixing the wonky Lightning Sphere and Tactical Det firing by converting them to use alchemist spell arcing.
- Redoing the drop rates of tomes in generic and raid loot tables.
There are alot of things in game I dont care for much, just as there are alot of things in life I dont care for as well. There's a fine line between protecting ones ideals and values and pressing them upon those who do not desire them.
I'm sure youll be able to remove skulls from your favorite piece of armor soon, but asking the devs to code in the functionality to filter skulls for you is asking a bit much I think. However, should your crusade prove useful, I would like to extend the list of atrocities to halflings and warforged. Stormreach is really no place for little kids playing dungeon crawler and those emotionless automatron faces really freak me out.
Funny you should mention warforged...
... because I was thinking I'd like to customize my warforged to look like Carmen Miranda. "That's right, Orthon. You and your buddies just got Mass Held by a robot with a bunch of fruit on its head!"
But...but...but...what will we keep our precious thoughtmeats in?

This makes me want to roll a toon named Skullcrotch McTestes.
We are playing a game where we hack creatures to pieces with swords, burn them with fire, burn them with acid, fire arrows at them, freeze them into shattering chunks with ice, and then steal their stuff.
The more creatures we kill, the larger and more dangerous they are, the more powerful we become.
Skulls? Seems appropriate to me.

Yes, but I can see how some might be disturbed by the more lurid mental images involving a skull codpiece.
Besides, as I said, I LIKE things that are horribly inappropriate. In order for the game to be able to add horribly inappropriate things, though, there need to be filters so the people who don't want to see the inappropriate stuff can opt out.
Have no idea what the OP really had in mind when asking for skulls to be dumped.
I know for sure some robes/docents with skulls don't quite make sense on some of my characters.
Just like polished plate with gleaming enamel does not match the mental image I had for some other characters of mine.
Hopefully, appearance customisation should address that somewhat.

To Clarify: I do not really care what you all do with your armor. Nore do I care wich image you chose to put forth. That is your choice and I will back you on that choice.
I just do not want the skulls on my armor and axes, personal preference, so I would like the chance to remove it or replace it.
