Default is Improved 2 handed fighting line worth it?

Think about it.. im on 2nd tr = legend build on my barb 18 / 2 fighter, got all my gear pretty much for epic questing but is greater two handed fighting 10% damage more on glancing blows worth it? its like what 2-5 more damage a shot? atm i got the feats to fit it in, but i was thinking and using a plannar and down the road contimplating making this 18 barb / 2 rogue and having full spec enability for traps locks and still a major dps output. first off ive never seen my vorpal proc off a glancing blow out of 3 lives.. and im not to concerned by that seeing as how ill 95% of time be using Epic SOS so no extra trigger effects on it anyways.. so on this rogue build i decidded not even taking all 3 feats instead taking stunning blow toughness x 2 possibly power attack cleave imp crit slashing and past life barb for extended rages. it all works great, but i wanna know if the damage from 30% extra glancing blow damage is that worth it to someoone criting for 550's without a surge. Feedback appreciated much.

i dont see how 10% damage could be 2-5more damage on someone hitting at 500

and if i am not wrong, you never seen vorpal trigger on glancing blow because it wasnt implemented before. this is new, and can be increased by this feat, by your barbarian enahncements and HO enhancements

i dont have relevant feedback as i never imagined not taking this feat, make the maths if you feel like it, im pretty sure it worths it but if you find otherwise, ill be glad to learn something

well ive only seen the percentage based off of a normal hit.. for instance i hit a 110 non crit.. the glancing blow is around say.. 40.. without the feats all 3 id imagine 25? so per feat 2-5 damage is what im imagineing. im not disagreeing ive yet to skip a beat on it, but im just thinking outside the box and wondering is it really worth it.

the past life, 1 toughness stunning blow, possible 2nd toughness i dont know if the 23 hp is worth it but couldnt find a feat elsewise to take.. other then regular based 2 handed fighting.. so i guess if i did 1 toughness and took that itd be 20% glancing blow damage loss plus 6% triggered effects

If you move around when fighting = No.

If you are glued to one spot while swinging = Yes it can be.

I liked to round up mobs and swing in a pack but I also kept moving and not let them get behind me. Did a nice amount of damage when I did this.

Since the change I've tried out other feats and really like the other feats.

All melee stand and swing in DDO. There's no reason not too.

It depends on your play style.

I like to have it for those times when you're in the middle of mobs autocritting in Epics because it dishes out a ton of extra DPS on everything around you. It's also very nice earlier in the game since mobs drop fast.

But...for the most part I just twitch nowadays and could probably get rid of it if I needed to.

It's also nice for when you are hate tanking. It's not as easy to twitch when you A. can't see your toon and B. don't have much room to move around.

thats what i thought cause im 99% of the time twitch fighting, and most of the time we have a designated hate tank/timmy for most part so i should be fine on that part but thank you

They don't give glancing blows when moving. Not sure if they changed the text for GTHF. It could still say that it gives glancing blows while moving and if it does then it is wrong.

They changed things two updates back so that you have to stand still while swinging to get your glancing blows.

Twitching you won't get them. Any movement that breaks the chain and you won't get glancing blows until you are planted in one spot again.

Just for clarification on your numbers above though....

If you have GTHF (all 3), you will do 30% more glancing blow damage (for a total of 50%), and have 9% more (making it it 12%?) chance to proc effects. This is also modified by Barb enhancements, and (if you went with the race) Horc / WF enhancements for even more. You will find that to be quite a bit more than 2-5 damage difference.

    20% of 110 (your listed average hit) = 22
    50% of 110 (your listed average hit) = 55

I'm not getting into the debate on weather taking the feats or not is right for you (I personally have em and love em, especially the procs on para, vorp, etc), I'm just giving a little perspective on the numbers.

DR applies normally to glancing blows, which may explain the numbers he's seeing.

Each level should be getting you 11 damage.

If you're doing 40 points, the mobs probably have 15ish dr, giving you:

7 damage without the feats (base 22-15dr)
    18 for THF 1,
    29 for THF 2, and
    40 for THF 3

Good point, I didnt think about DR (I'm not always able but try to have the appropriate DR toy to swing at critters when I can). The numbers are still notably more than he listed, and get better as you get more THF feats, correct? (I ask that honestly, as I am no math cruncher. I leave that to the wife who is not currently home).
