Exclamation Tank IT and Spank IT (34pt build - first TR)

    Arbiteress build
    Planning Stage
    Goal: Paladin Tank
Notes: Currently lv 20 fighter farming and approaching first cleansing item.
was dual khopesh build dps build but changed into tank late game and now <3 tanking.
things noticed during fighter life so far is did not have feats to reach very high hp + intimidate.
also lacking saves made tanking currently a challenge. next life i want to focus on making tank
can handle hard / epic lv 20 raids. But in same token know that also need to be able to dps to some extent.

    Things to consider
In Progress of farming some of gear
Will switch between Light + Heavy gear depending on quest / raid

swap into light DT for quests raid where exposed to heavy spell casting.
swap into heavy DT for quests where exposed to constant melee damage.

    Pro's:
heavy intimidate should be able take hate from any class
    Decent saves
    High Ac
    Con's:
    med Str now.

prob of using intimidate is when want someone else to take agro from you e.g. shroud part 2

Confused as to how a triple pos sword gives you 20 hp.

    A couple things:

    1) Do you actually ever plan on hitting anything? More strength this build is unworkable and gimped as it stands. Pure board tanks are useless.

    2) Drop Wisdom to 8.

    3) Read these...

    http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=218542

    http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=135360

    4) You want the paly capstone

    5) Two toughness feats is a waste.

    6) 607 (if i make 2 GS items) ???? - they don't stack

...that's just a start. There are a lot of issues here.

    triple pos sword :
    (+10% healing amp)(either 20% healing amp / goodburst)(+2 exceptional CON)
con on weapon is not to skills but addition to base stats thats how u get +20 hp from triple pos sword.

Many variations can go with this seems to be best for trip pos.

Could be wrong but you pretty much attacked(flamed) my thread without giving anything i did not already read through or given any criticism could improve my thread. As I am called for tanking and requested to tank with my character atm on regular basis im trying make for character that can take beating and still be fun for me to play. What benefit is there to pally capstone for a tank?

As stated in other threads the purpose of taking on fighter lvl is for feats for feat starved class. i chose 1 fighter not only for tower shield feat but to access its bonus feat so thats rightly justified. contemplating second class or if i should go 2 fighter second fighter does not look suitable for what i need atm. already stated i need adjust str might take what u said apply points from wis to str but like to know why.
How is 2 toughness feats a waste? need 2 access AP for toughness. not mention need get 600-700 or more with current content. so any toughness feat is more than welcome.

hmm dropping fighter/mnk go for 2 rogue lvls also looks like it make for suitable use with evasion. would have to make adjustments and +2 int tome at lv 7 prior to rogue lvls. would have to redo things.
also read those post before find some information in them are bit outdated need revising.

    +2 to con = +1 bonus x 20(levels) = +20 hp

You plan on keeping Agro with Intimidate?

How are you planning to mitigate incoming damage?

How are you going to contribute in fights where a tank isn't beneficial?

A triple pos sword shouldn't give you exceptional con.

    You get
    holy
    good burst
    good blast
    greater disruption

    you overlooked some minor details:

    http://perfectweb.org/ddo/crafting/base_crafting.php

possible options for T3 on weapon are as follows:

    Superior devotion,
    Good Blast,
    Exceptional Charisma +2,
Exceptional Constitution +2,<- what i was aiming for...
    +4 AC(insight bonus),
    30% healing amp

only reason is because i do not have another piece of gear provides +2 exceptional bonus if i did then this would be useless
and in that case either healing amp or +4 ac bonus would appear to be most sought after.

That is a horrible horrible idea to be putting stat points onto a weapon. Especially one like that, where it would severely limit your dps. You can always get exceptional on a ToD ring. Keep a weapon as a weapon, don't make it an extra gear slot.

DPS? Have you actually looked at the build? Shield blocking and hitting intimidate is going to limit his DPS.

No, I read your build, processed it, and gave you feed back. It is useless. You will be of no use to any party in any content. Period. DDO doesn't have tanks. They do not exist. They are a myth.

You do not roll a melee character with a 9 strength. Period.

When someone says they need a tank, they generally mean a character with a ton of hit points who can hold agro generally through solid to superior dps. They are not looking for a turtle who will be useless for 95% of the time. You want a high AC paladin. Look at this build...

    http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=214423

...it has a feat setup that allows for high DPS and it can turtle for AC when necessary.

How is a second toughness feat a waste? The extra 23 hit points is not worth the sacrifice in other areas you have a very limited number of feats on this build. If you are going to have AC you won't be getting hit much anyway the 23 HP won't make or break you.

Rather than fighter or rogue go 2 monk for evasion.

This build is as it stands is not going to contribute in any meaningful way to any party. The truth hurts I know...AC is broken in this game. Pure sword and board is broken worse.

If you just want a high HP and intimidate tank build a Warforged Barbarian...

Nyvn - TY finally someone read my build figured out what ill be doing alot.

as for eladium you are doing nothing but repeating yourself and giving out negative feedback wich doesnt really help much if i want to be turtle type tank then thats what im going to make. I am not making dps i need enough dps when im not turtleing with incite enhance etc to outweigh other non-tanks that way as already stated those non-tanks get full flanking bonus. ty. now if find way for me to maximize hp intimidate and saves that would prove to be far more valuable to me atm. only useful info was that mention taking 2 monks for evasion k but need back that up evasion useless if you are using plate since can only use it when you are wearing light armor.

Why would you be wearing plate? You can go light have evasion and get the full wisdom and dex bonuses. Good luck with the can't hit anything and can't damage anything build.

FYI no one needs the flanking bonus. This isn't WoW tanks are useless. I'm trying to do you a favor before you find your fail toon on everyone's dnp because you turtle up and do no damage. What are you going to do in the shroud? Intimidate portals into returning to Shavarath. Intimidate Harry see how well that works. There are like 3 quests where Turtle and Intim is even useful.

PS: Nyvn wasn't trying to be helpful. Reroll your sarcasm check. Shield blocking and intimidating is not a valid play style.

Everyone gets what you want to do, I was asking leading questions to see if you realized what you were doing. Pigeon holing your character into a role that is only useful in a handful of situations.

Have you tried out this play style yet? Use the equip you're farming for your TR on your current build.

As I asked earlier how do you plan to contribute in situations where a turtle isn't needed?

It's generally better to lead someone to a conclusion than try and force them to it. One might work and the other will just make them defensive.
