Default Question about the new epic scroll mechanism

    Well, a 2 part question...

    1) I/We/People often start a quest before all members of the group are in the quest... when this happens the late arrivals are usually not excluded from any scroll rolls. Will the new scroll drop mechanism include people that aren't yet in the quest?

    2) People often Disconnect for various reasons in the middle of a quest... when this happens, the person that dc'd is usually not excluded from any scroll rolls. Will the new scroll drop mechanism include disconnected people and deposit the scroll in their inventory when they reconnect?

No but there's nothing stopping you doing a d100 roll if you want to include them.

I don't see an issue with people not getting credit for the monsters killed in their absence.

    This.

I assume that you are referring to epic groups comprised of your friends and guildies, in which case I agree with you. My friends and I have often started a quest while waiting for someone to get ship buffs/change characters/travel from an inconvenient zone, and the new mechanic will work for this. As in, the scrolls are still unbound and you can hold a seperate roll for them if you so choose.

Well no, I was more referring to standard practices... guild runs can do whatever they want.
Standard practice, at least on Thelanis, is to hold a fair, all inclusive roll either when the scrolls drops or at the end of the quest, and to include all members of the group whether they were connected when the scroll dropped or not.

Its pretty clear that standard practice after this mechanism is implemented will revert to "your loot is your loot" and trying to tell someone to put their loot up for roll because someone disconnected is not going to happen. Much the same as if a chest gets opened before someone reconnects, the people who got to loot sure arent putting it up for roll so the dc'd person gets some ... And, unlike chests, you cant really say "Nobody kill anything untill XXXX finishes reconnecting"

Anyway, thanks for the answers, and im going to have to say i dont like the new mechanism for this reason, but meh what can you do...

While I agree with your basic premise, especially since some players are subject to being dc'd much more often than others, I still prefer this system to the old alternative.

There isn't much else you could do to make a better system for those that aren't in the quest or dc'd. Putting scrolls in chests can still lead to pretty much the exact same problem. You could claim to have a little more control over the situation if scrolls were in chests, but I think it's pretty clear why that will never happen. The developers want there to be a reward for killing epic mobs instead of just bypassing them.
