    Default Forum Rep System

How about a little suggestion to help improve this system that I don't see would be tough to do.

Tell us when, where and who we hit with a positive, negative reputation point. That way we watch our 24 hour time limit hits. Also allows us to know if we need to rep someone else before we can hit a person we previously hit that had another recent post.

Another idea would be nice would to be able to see who actually hit you with a positive or negative reputation. This may bring griefing but like DDO there is an ignore option and this could help avoid some of those anonymous negative posts.

Horrible idea. Remove the reputation system.

We don't need it. Show how many posts someone has made, sure.

How much the person is liked? Seriously? Nah..

If you frequent the forums enough, you'll know who you like and who you don't like.

    Peace.

Any personal feelings aside, the Devs have said they will never put names to Rep giving.

I am either for this, or scrapping the entire rep system. It is just another tool people use to hide behind an anon net handle and support their friends while griefing those they disagree with.

Would nice if it even just worked.

11+ boxes in the neg and still posting away like the rest of us... ...not mentioning any names, or anything.

Rep is just a forum game, nothing more. (Tho it's still mildly annoying when the Phantom rolls around)

Yeap, that happened for a few hours on one day, and now I know where the majority of my rep came from.

The flaw with the rep system comes just from this. When someone wants to be transparent and post that they neg repped someone and why, they get a rain of neg themselves, just for using their neg button :/

I am so angry that I didn't get a chance to check that out, I must have been out that day but I heard about it. Not for the neg, but more for finding out if I have any hardcore fans

Youre right, and thats the point I am making, people WILL think twice about neg repping and why they do it. The other alternative, which is what we have now, is people ninja negging for disagreement, and for grief, even on posts in threads they griefer didnt participate in. I dont think that the current state of things is any better than showing me the names of the reppers.

I know who my griefers are and who my fans are. The griefers know that I know too. Some of them are the ones who auto disagree with my posts regardless of what I type. It looks hilarious when three posts earlier they were bantering the exact opposite stance.

I think its good to see both. If not we dont even need the system at all.

    *cough*

That being said, I am ambivalent about forum rep. I've not got enough to matter, really, but I think it helps to discern who is truly helpful, and who is full of poppycock. For example, even before I read his posts on the site I figured that Memnir was someone trustworthy, if only because of his massive greenis. In the same minute, I do see a lot of issues with it because it gives some an opportunity to show their worse side. I guess I can appreciate what it provides, while also taking that with a grain of salt. I don't care for the idea of making things public because even with our new rules, the fora would go off the deep end when someone took an innocent neg rep as an attack against their very being. It MIGHT lead some to think twice before negging someone else, but I have a feeling that a lot would just laugh it off and wait for it to hit the fan.

    A newbie question:
How can I give reputation to someone?

I wanted to do that many times, but it seems that I'm not allowed to do so.
Is that related to the fact that I'm F2P player?

I see the button "add to reputation" only on my own posts (pressing that button shows how many times rep I've got from that post).
