Orien what do YOU think about the new scroll system?

Been a bit boring here of late on the server forums so I thought we'd discuss or rather let your comments be known about the new scroll drop mechanic coming in update 8.

So guys what do you all think about it? Those few of the fewer still that actually come to the orien forums and do epics often

New Mechanic : Scroll drops from mob, server does a roll for everyone in the instance, scroll goes straight to winner's inventory.

Myself, I'm on the fence with this one, I can see a few positives and negatives off the bat though.

I primarily play on the Onion server.

My toons haven't gotten up to the epic levels yet, but I've read so many horror stories and arguments that have made me a bit less motivated in levelling up to do these. This change has made me a bit more comfortable, though. Plus I'm just lazy and don't want to bother pausing and waiting through all of the rolls. The change looks like things will be much more efficient, but then again I'm pretty clueless when it comes to epic questing. LOL

Anyway, this is one noob's opinion.

More of a "Eh? When the heck did that get into my ingredient bag..."

Because I'm typically not paying attention to the little message about such & such being put into a bag while in a fight with things dying and me running around killing things. So the next time I actually dig into a bag to oh craft something in The Shroud, I may find a few unexpected items at the bottom of the bag.

I see the potential for massive drama over "is it yours or isn't it?".

However I like not having to sob as scrolls sit in unreachable places.

Hm from now on i would only play epics with people i know... That is **** because i like pugging but i don't want to take the risk or the doubt of who took it, is it yours, do you give it to party leader etc, etc... And even after i would roll with the trade to leader system.

With friends it would be different ofc, need before greed. who needs it get it lol.

I love this change. Now I can pug epics without listening to a bunch of scroll drama.

Might actually stay level 20 for more than a couple days

I'm in favor of the change. It eliminates ninja looting, and since the game does the rolling for you everyone gets a fair chance at it. I'd imagine that some people might put it up for a second roll if they couldn't make use of it. It won't change the dynamic in friend/guild groups either, people will still pass to whoever needs it.


The change I like the most is the game announcing who actually got the scroll. If we had that previously, we might have bullied would-be ninja looters into being fair or knowing exactly who to squelch and never group with again.

well since i only play epics with ppl i know are good players i've never had issues with ninja looters.

showing some respect to those you play with goes a long way and as a result you gain a certain lvl of trust with those ppl. I dont think this will make an ounce of difference to my epic encounters simply due to knowing who i play with.

oh and btw I pug, cause if you dont pug you dont get to meet the next really decent player. yeah theres a little risk in doing that i guess, but I think the risk is nothing compared to the gains of good players you find. The new system will really help in showing those good players as they are the ones who wont be silent.

therefore the new system is a boon as it will help weed out the ppl to avoid and highlight the ppl to play with

Never done epics, mainly because my gear isn't up to snuff yet, but also because of the rumors of rampant "ninja looting"

I like the change... it sounds like they've fixed a problem that a lot of people were complaining about

You don't need to worry about gear Only matters in the Demon Queen quests. The Deeps and Tide Turns can get a lil rough as well without it.

Epics are more about playstyle & easy even without "stuff" unless you're with a bad group. And then it likely wouldn't make a difference. The best players could even do them with everyone in Korthos gear.

Well, with that new chronoscope gem trinket, you really can deck yourself out in korthos gear. Think of all the extra to-hit and bonus level 1 spell damage!

Hmmmmmmmm well, I was told differently.

As a pure 20 barb, any suggestions? I'm gonna do my best to tier III my GSGAxe before doing epics and I'll have time for other raids in between the 2+ day layoffs between shroud raids

If I grab the scroll first, I feel bad cuz everyone expects me to roll it. If someone else grabs it first, they lie about it and don't put it up for roll. Now I solo all the epics so I don't REALLY care but seriously, it sucks. That update sounds like it sucks less so yeehaw lol. Too bad they can't really do that for the eardweller lol. That's still a lying, backstabbing free for all lol.
