If you can't understand Quick and Marathon

Don't fight the two dragons.

I don't care if your E-peens demanded to go on ahead and proceed hacking and mashing the two dragons on Prey on the Hunter on Casual, I don't bloody care if you owned them both all by yourself w/ a cleric.

I don't bloody care if you got 1 more rune than we did.

A noob is a noob regardless of e-peens.

If you can't read/listen to others we'll not certainly listen/read to you.

PS: I got a little nerdrage a while ago, just wanted to rant out.

I've never understood why you'd want to have the hassle of fighting a pair of dragons after going to all the trouble of saving her & her eggs from the frost giants' taste for exotic omlettes.

on a slight tangent, it'd be nice to have a double-option for that quest, where you could play it as it is currently for the easier flagging/rune run alone, or another option where you side with the giants, maybe fight through some minions of the dragon then face the dragons themselves, in a quest that was harder overall but would have some worthwhile (maybe named items, also white scale chance) loot rewards in the end chests in addition to the rune & essence.

Option 3:
Have the quest complete at the talk to aussie, so those that want just the quick completion can loot and go, leaving the tool who wants to fight able to do so alone.

I was in this run on my barbarian. I went afk for 2 minutes to use the restroom at the end of the quest, and when i came back there were two dragons beating on me.

I honestly don't know who triggered it, whether it was on purpose or accident, but it sucks to get to that point and have to waste another 10 minutes to open the chest that is so annoying to grind for to begin with.

I didn't mean to come off like I was stroking my e-peen by killing them instead of reforming, but I wanted the chest and wasn't about to let some dragon stop me from getting it.

I know how frustrating it is when people don't follow directions when your trying to grind it out and be done with it, and if I was the one who offended you I apologize.

Hope you got the tempest rune you were after.

Well it was a blame fest at that point on, so looking back, I guess its my initial reaction to blame the one smashing the dragons so I should be the one apologizing to you

The only problem I saw assessing that situation is that people new to the quest are either too afraid to admit their mistake (w/c is forgivable to me and would've proceeded to reenter and kill the dragons to let them know how long it takes to kill them even on casual) or noobs who automatically think that the quest is a hack/slash/kill e-peen fest before asking what to do.

Lots of people do run that quest for XP rather than runes, and in that case fighting the dragons is pretty sensible on Normal. I've heard some people say they do it on Elite for XP too. If you want to fight the dragons, it should be *clearly* stated in the LFM.



On the thread name - is it just me that thinks that most people doing marathons are trying to do them *as fast as they possibly can*? Maybe not the best thread name

True, but I'm capped and I assumed (yes I am speculative) that people would understand Quick and Marathon on Prey on the Hunter Normal as comment lfm as a farming run.

Sometimes accidents do happen. Last night a guildie accidentally hit the wrong answer and we ended up figthing the dragons. We got it done and gave us another things to joke about. Things happen and this is only a game. It's better to just deal with it and move on. Besides some people got an extra 5-6000 xp as well as a couple of other chests. And i am all for more chests

Like you say, mistakes happen. But if I was in a 'speed completion' group and did that, I'd apologize.

Funniest thing I've seen lately - had an LFM up for 'Prey with dragons, Hard' a few weeks ago. When we aggroed the dragons, someone recalled out saying 'bah, faster to run it again'.

I'm glad to have helped them waste some of their time.

I just got back to DDO after a year+ absence and I actually hadn't encountered 'quick' or 'marathon' in LFM descriptions before. What does it mean?
