    Default Feedback - Operation: Summerfield

Stormreach is under attack by the armies of Droaam!

Seek out Darmon Kosh in the Lordsmarch Plaza for some information about what is going on. Then find Yorrick Amanatu inside the Lordsmarch Palace and run the quest 'Operation: Summerfield' and let us know what you think of it.

After running the quest for a bit, take some time to give us feedback by copying and pasting the following questions and posting your responses after each.

    • How long did it take you to complete this quest?
    • Do you have a clear understanding of the quest story, and was it interesting?
    • Were the visuals and environment in this quest appropriate to the theme?
    • Are you likely to run this quest more than once on Live?
    • What do you think of the XP and loot rewards given the difficulty of the quest?
    • Please make additional comments here:

I take it the quests are closed for now as I saw no one around to give them to you in the palace or the plaze. I saw two of the entrances (summerfield and the Temple but theyt tell you to go away. I also did not see them in the quest log anywhere.

Thanks for reporting that! Glyn went and woke up the questgivers, so all the Update 8 quests should now be available.

Wow, only reason I didn't report it as a bug is that you guys have been known to keep the quests closed before when aiming for certain specific feedback on other stuff

This one can be a long quest. Reminded me a little bit of part of the Chronoscope in they general layout and idea. Details looked good. Took a bit of thinking to find all the required NPCs for the optionals. Nice quest to run.
I found the smoldering fires and clouds of smoke to be a great addition to making it seem more like combat in a city would be like for flavor.

Ran through it with my favored soul on elite, and have to say it's far more difficult then it's level would indicate. Not necessarily a bad thing, but the xp rewards and loot don't quite match the risk involved, I only recall seeing one chest in it even with all the optionals done. Perhaps add more chests if you complete them? The quest itself is good though, very atmospheric and has some surprises. The kobold engineers we're a nice touch.

Love the quest and storyline... it took me 45 mins to go through it with a level 20, just looking for odd ball areas, and such.

I did keep the Captain Markus alive through the assault, however I received no reward or even a check mark in my quest log showing that the optional was completed. So you might wanna make sure that that is being checked correctly and awarding that optional correctly.

I see this as a level 13ish area that will compete with Co6 & Greymoon as far as exp grind goes, expecially for a TR where this level area is a bit empty other than the Desert *I hate the Desert*

More rewards for completing the optionals would be nice, however I did this on a level 20 and don't know what the exp awards were.

Elite has been getting tougher lately. Good change, if there's incentives to run elite (significantly higher base XP for instance).
    I don't have a zerging problem.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.

The xp is well under what you'd get out in the desert, and it's not like there's any shortage of good xp quests in that level range. Don't see it being run too often, although it depends on if theirs any good named loot.

    * How long did it take you to complete this quest?

43 minutes on normal. Did it on a level 20 rogue, and I am a roleplayer. I wanted to see as much as I could. I might buy a house in this district. Would be great to be able to go to it out of quest.

    * Do you have a clear understanding of the quest story, and was it interesting?

    Yes.

    * Were the visuals and environment in this quest appropriate to the theme?

Yeah, felt great. Felt like you were in a battle zone, and people screamed and ran! Unexpected surprise. I love the new NPC voice acting lately.... not so much the changes to PCs.

    * Are you likely to run this quest more than once on Live? Yes, its fun. Would make something good to RP.

3k XP feels a little short to me for a level thirteen quest. Something in the level four to five ranges would definitely help it fight the draw of the Gianthold XP grind.

    * What do you think of the XP and loot rewards given the difficulty of the quest?

I got a min level six robe, and a handful of gold.... not very impressive, even for normal. I would up the loot charts a level or two, and add chests for completing optional bits.

    * Please make additional comments here:
Really, any way to open up more of the city out of quests would be amazing. I love this game, and I love exploring it. Having a bit of new town to sit with people and chat, and have it not be on fire would be great.

    Well....

This was kind of a big bust for me.

I went in on Normal on my Level 15 warchanter with a cleric hireling, Level 15 Jatrina.

It started out okay... I survived the guys coming through the Portal and I kept the Captain alive although the Objective never cleared. Then it was a bit difficult to find the Sally Port, but eventually I did. On the other side of the port, I found the area confusing and hard to get around in, but eventually I cleared all of the Droaam and helped all but one of the prisoners. It took me a while to figure out that I could go into the buildings.

So after that I shrined, and I was about to go back to find the sally port again, since that was what the Objective seemed to be telling me what to do (I didn't know what the "Defensive Wall" referred to), when I ended up going in a direction I hadn't gone before. I reached a new area when suddenly I was ambushed by a whole bunch of new guys including an orange-named boss. I died pretty quick because I hadn't buffed or anything (I thought I was going back to talk to the Captain). The worst thing was that I couldn't manage to get Jatrina to obey my command to resurrect me. I thought that you guys had fixed the hirelings! Soon after she died too. Hence the big bust.

How long did it take you to complete this quest?

    I never completed it.

Do you have a clear understanding of the quest story, and was it interesting?

Well the story was that we were under attack and we were trying to drive off the attack. The sudden appearance of a medusa (spoiler) was interesting.

Were the visuals and environment in this quest appropriate to the theme?

yes, very war-ruin-chaotic. Hard to believe that this was Stormreach, though.

Are you likely to run this quest more than once on Live?

I don't know. Let me finish it first.

What do you think of the XP and loot rewards given the difficulty of the quest?

You must have hit the bridge to the south of town.. I've never seen a medusa.. maybe dropping named items as an optional chest I havn't found yet.

Did complete on elite, 8 mins... 1 end chest... eh i'll zerg this one to open up the other quests, thanks... Oh, and the body slam at the end, priceless..

There's two questions I have about the whole sequel to the Drooam quest series:

Will this series be F2P like the first quests or will this be P2P? (I know it sounds noobish but maybe I missed something somewhere...) Also, are we going to see Dirge of Carnath(Correct me if my spelling is wrong) or the fabled Oath of Drooam in this quest series?

Actually I meant to write this earlier:

I am a Premium player. I have tons of Poincelot TP on Lamannia, and I was able to buy (and play) the Siege of Stormreach quest back from the DDO Store on Lamannia for 450 TP, even though I am not VIP.

So it seems like these are not F2P quests.

Not rushing took 18 mins to complete on elite, FvS AA.

Mobs did seem hard for the level, but that sits fine with me.

Not likely to be run a lot on live due to low xp. Optionals could be increase a ton xp wise.

Searched what felt like everywhere and could not find the last two wounded soldiers after getting the optional for the third time.

    Boss looked great.

    * How long did it take you to complete this quest?
19 minutes with all optionals on my level 14 Wizard on normal
    * Do you have a clear understanding of the quest story, and was it interesting?
Under attack in a weak district by Droam, simple enough.
    * Were the visuals and environment in this quest appropriate to the theme?
I liked the visuals in the quest, seemed very appropiate to scene.
    * Are you likely to run this quest more than once on Live?
On normal yeah, I could run this in a matter of minutes with an efficient group with all optionals. 6 people searching the streets this quest on normal would it very fast.
    * What do you think of the XP and loot rewards given the difficulty of the quest?
I got one chest for normal and completed all the optionals, maybe I missed something but I ran around quite a bit.
    * Please make additional comments here:
When I did complete this quest Markus was alive but I didn't get my XP for that optional for some reason..
Another thing I noticed was what's with the area with kobolds and catapults, it just seemed cool but no optional, chest or anything for it..

How long did it take you to complete this quest?
10 Minutes (Solo on Normal with a level 20 monk), can probably get it down to around 5 minutes at level with a full party.

Do you have a clear understanding of the quest story, and was it interesting?
Yes to both. Droam armies invaded an area called Summerfield. Which I got the impression was a suburb/district of Stormreach.

Were the visuals and environment in this quest appropriate to the theme?
Yup, it's just how I'd imagine a battlefield. However, I did notice a 'destroyed' shrine. I don't really think it fits in since the shrine statues are more of a symbol of a camp more than anything else. Or is someone setting those actuall statues in all the different quest locations all over Eberron?

Are you likely to run this quest more than once on Live?
Yes, decent XP/M so I might incorporate it in my TR leveling plan.

What do you think of the XP and loot rewards given the difficulty of the quest?
XP was just right (maybe a little low if you are not very well geared at level).

    Please make additional comments here:
I found it confusing that you had to 'skip ahead' to operation Summerfield when talking to Yorrick Amantu after picking up the chain from Darmon Kosh. Isn't he the first one I have to go to?

The 'Skip Ahead' appears if you have not finished the Update 7 quest chain, since some of the same NPCs are used. I've noted you found it confusing and will pass it on to the dev team.

It's bugged -- because if you complete the U7 chain, and you retake each quest as you go, the "Skip Ahead" option still needs to be used in the U8 ones...

    * How long did it take you to complete this quest?
Level 20 Sorc, completed in about 30 minutes. Wandered around taking out snipers from the rooftops and generally hopping around the buildings trying not to hit the ground.
    * Do you have a clear understanding of the quest story, and was it interesting?
The first part of the quest, defending the wall from the invaders was very clear. Moving out into the city to thin the invaders also made sense. It took me a while to find the sally port (I wasn't expecting a sewer entrance with a switch...I was looking for a GATE from which troops could assault the invaders.) All in all, I had a good time and found the quest fun.
    * Were the visuals and environment in this quest appropriate to the theme?
The cityscape under assault was well done.
    * Are you likely to run this quest more than once on Live?
    Almost certainly.
    * What do you think of the XP and loot rewards given the difficulty of the quest?
The main quest XP was fine. The optionals (rescuing the guards for example) were less than what I would have expected for the time but it probably would have been a lot faster with a group instead of solo so the XP might be proper for group play.

I recieved only random loot rewards, nothing special.
    * Please make additional comments here:
It wasn't clear to me that some of the wounded guards were inside the buildings so that optional actually took until after I'd completed the main quest to finish.

Also, I'm not sure about it but if there is an optional named outside the gate that can appear with the other troops then it wasn't clear to me if I needed to go out there or not. If I were on a character at that level, the fight out there would have been quite challenging.

I didn't seem to have to leave much of the area around the wall to complete the quest. It appeared as though so long as you could take out enough of the attackers in the alleys it would progress to the sally port objective. I ended up hitting a Ddoor and stumbling right onto the sally port after looking around the outside for a while. I again think that the difference of solo versus group made it more challenging since only one set of eyeballs in a new quest made it tougher.
