Why does the rest of the group need to know what I pulled in my chest?
At least one reason is that I want to know that *someone* is getting some nice loot even if none dropped for me. Another reason might be so that other players know that there is a scroll of the Marilith Chain in existance now and can offer the winning player something nice for it like a couple of large scales or another Epic scroll.
I never got a scroll, they got ninja´d.
So i actually like this change.
How many dwarves does it take to screw in a lightbulb ?!?
Three. Two to get a ladder under it, one to try to climb up until he realizes the ladder is bugged.
We don't get a message in party chat every time someone picks up a scroll or loots a collectible or treasure bag.
I personally find it annoying to see an inventory of what everyone looted from their chest in my chat window.
I only care about what I looted from my chest.
As for party-wide broadcasts of loot aquired for trade or verification purposes, that's what the AH and forums are for.

Great change! The roll has been made for you - just like the chest...The group can always have upfront rules for rolls if pugging. I dont see the problem here, this is much like the original raid chest change. The group leader cant decide who gets the loot (ninja grab) the system does- GREAT CHANGE!!
I added "Loot" to my General tab and removed it from my Party tab. That way, I can see what happened when I want to without having my primary chat tab cluttered (especially since General is full of cluttered garbage like DM text and political bickering from Marketplace chat anyway).
Not really good reasons. If the player who gets the marilith scroll doesnt need it, he might say himself it is for trade, so no need to have a message; if the person getting good loot wants the rest of the party to know, he will tell.
The only reason I can figure is people wanting the scroll to be for roll anyway because they need it, which is nonsense: the game will be providing an auto-rolling sistem now.
Also consider that this is very different from chest drops, which are often BTC/BTA. Every build can make good use of an epic scroll since they are unbound.

As someone who has been Ninja'd before I like the idea that the scrolls auto populate. NOTHING is worse than a Ninja looter.
Thank you Turbine
auto distribution is a roll so it's no different than rolling on it before. No reason to put it up for party roll unless you can't use it like any other raid loot because you won the roll by getting it distributed to you.
and prevents the scroll hogs that exist today. I might actually pull my first scroll from a pug epic.
I applaud the change.

The same 'unsavory' folks also wouldn't put any of their loot up for roll they get from a chest. If the game decides that x player gets x item, then guess what x item is now rightfully the property of x player and you can't demand that they put it up for roll because you wouldn't demand that they put up anything in a chest for roll.
Think of it this way: I won the lottery. Likely at least a couple hundred thousand also entered the lottery. None of them would in their right minds(crazy people certainly would, and some greedy people might also) demand that I run a second lottery just to see if I get to keep it or if it goes to someone else. It is now MY money.
If it's that much of a problem, lead your own epic quests and make sure everyone knows before joining that all loot will be required to be put up for a roll and if they don't like it they don't need to come.
ah why ?
its exactly the same as rolling on the scroll ... only difference is YOUR not rolling turbine is.
its the perfect solution ... now instead of not knowing who is stealing all the scrolls ... they go directly to you ... if you dont want it you can offer it up for roll or give it to a friend .... but its the fairest system. It just takes the roll out of your hands.
I cannot even fathom how many times i have been ninja looted ... so much so that if in a epic pug i often step back before the kill to see who is jumping on the scrolls and state exactly what they picked up in party chat and demand that it be rolled on before continuing ... how many times i have been the one people said YOU HOLD THE SCROLLS .. .then the mission ends and people start leaving before we had a chance to roll on scrolls (twice only but its happened its how i got my scroll of chimaras crown)
This way no one forgets .. no one gets screwed out of loot ... the scrolls are not bound so they can trade it to other characters that need it so there is no such think as need before greed with epic scrolls shards and seals .. they can sell it or trade it all they want .. on there own time
Not that I really care about this issue but a message to the party will just lead to people being upset. I don't join PUG epic runs but if I did, the last thing I'd want is somebody hounding me the rest of the quest for the scroll that dropped to me. I can't say I agree with this new mechanic but if they are going to move forward with a message then prepare for massive amounts of forum rants with people complaining about not being able to roll on the scroll they saw drop for someone else. Look how many rants we have about chest loot already and multiply it by a significant number is my forecast.
