    Thumbs up Defending an Invasion

    Hi All,

I recently played the quest Diplomatic Impunity. First time I saw the invasion army, I was like, woah, cool! The music made it even more scary. After Hard / Elite runs, the novelty wears off. It's more of a "Diplomatic ImPUNYty". Yeah puny, because I checked the number of invaders, I think a party with 6 level 12 toons can take that "horde". Sorry if I did not see the ships in the background if there are still ones who haven't made it yet to the land. Or the fact that they are already scattered across the map. (Sorry for my fact checking)

It's just that, without your imagination, the army below is not that, scary, or having the feeling of "oh noes, we are getting invaded" feeling.

    Sorry for the long introduction.

Here is my suggestion, can we have a quest where there will be a massive invasion, where you need to defend a castle . Does not need to be a Raid. It can be a normal 6 member party. There will be hordes and hordes of army trying to breach the wall. There will also be other NPCs that will fight, like guards, archers.

Imagine the Lord of the Rings where they defended the human castle. Since you also own lord of the rings online, do they already have that kind of quest?

I know this will be very hard to code and resource expensive for the computer graphics etc, but this would be an epic battle.

Being a cheap premium player, I will buy this quest even if it is 1k DDO points, for just one quest. For that, oh sh*t, we need to defend or we die aarrghghh feeling.

    Thoughts?

That sounds like the Kobald assault quest - some love it. I well... what's that saying? If you cannot say anything nice, then say nothing at all.

No dude, not kobold assault. It's an epic invading the wall type quest. You are not the only one who will defend, also NPCs

    Thumbs up Interesting idea

Like Kobold Assault as mentioned, but a Super Kobold Assault situation with masses of creatures attacking and NPCs who actually do more than just stand around, I definitly support that idea.

Huge battle with a long timer to hold the castle for, bring it on.

Sounds more like Gladewatch Outpost Defense. Problem I have with this sort of quest is being stuck in one place fighting hoards of monsters while waiting on a timer has the possibility of being
    A: Monotonous and boring
    2: Frustratingly hard

Adding a bunch of NPC's and having enormous swarms also seems like a great way to cause lots of lag.

I am not without any sympathy toward this concept. The quest might be manageable if the player was forced to move from one place to another during the defense. Being made to complete other varied tasks such as pouring boiling oil on enemy below, destroy battering ram before it takes down gate, etc.

Major parts of the quest could consist of holding dilapidated walls while a mage activates a barrier or something. That way you have large enemies pouring at you but it is in controlled bursts instead of an endless swarm.

That could be a quest I can get behind. That would keep the flavor while adding variety.

Exactly! There are side quests where you need to go to the back door to destroy the pillars breaching the wall. Or going to what wall that has been breached, etc etc..

Yeah, like what i've said, it will be resource extensive.

This would be really fun if you could operate seige machinery, or shoot those funky guns that are aboard the ship in the Storm the Beaches quest.
