    Default Tanks

Can tanks be made more useful?

Paladins are the righteous so why not allow them to intimidate undead and the like?
Making Paladins a more worthwhile tank and making it easier to tank those difficult undead quests.

Why not give a Feat or Enhancement that increases the range of Intimidate so it can be more effective and life saving?

Why not give a Feat that can assist in the intimidation of un-intelligent targets? Even morons can feel intimidated much like a necromancer can, and if a necromancer gets intimidated I'm sure he'll send all his undead on that guy?

I understand it's set in D&D Rules (sort of) but an MMORPG requires some of these aspects in order to make it more team work oriented, not a simple RUN IN AND SEE WHO SURVIVES AND DRAIN ALL THE HEALER SP. You've obviously had to bend the rules on some D&D aspects so why not save the casters and dps a Toughness feat and make Tanking a more useful skill?

What an insightful and valid addition to my original post .

Now, can we get some serious posts?

Intelligent undead can already be intimidated.

Non-intelligent monsters, i.e. brick walls and the like simply
don’t care how scary you look. Sucks to be you.

Regarding “difficult” undead quests – There are only three of
these and they are difficult due to non-undead related mechanics.

I not know a lot of difficult undead quests that would need a tank ...

I guess what you are looking for is not 'intimidate' which is a charming action that undead may indeed ignore but more looking for something like 'hate generation' alias 'incite'. For this take for example a look at the Dragontouched Armor:

    Eldritch Rune of Threat
    Incite 10%
    Tempest Rune of Threat
    Incite 15%
    Sovereign Rune of Threat
    Incite 20%

That would indeed mean you first have to hit the mob. But skeletons trash mobs not needed to be intimidated either as you can use web or other crowd control on them to be 'life saving' or cook them in a firewall. In DDO a Tank is not the answer to all questions, change your tactic on the other side is often one.

But I agree that tanking in DDO could get some loving, but not necessarily by allowing intimi on undeads if this is the case (never tried that thou).

    * Having already a past life on the dieng EU servers, I rerolled here and started from scratch as I like the game and the community, so lets see what awaits me here

I was only using undead as an example.

All I wanted was tanks to get a bit more benefits, why shouldn't paladins get a feat/spell/ability which can force undead to attack them due to there Aura of Good, surely Evil will be more against Good characters therefore be more likely to attack them?

Quite simply, why not have Aura of Good increase threat against Evil aligned enemies?
Why not have a way for the unintimidateable be intimidated other then by CC skills like web?

CC is necessary and I'm not saying make tanks SO OVERPOWERED that CC is unnecessary, CC is CROWD control, its necessary when there is to many enemies for the tank to handle in my opinion, a tank should be taking the beats as much as possible.

Why can't people take a forum section called Suggestions seriously? It's a SUGGESTION not a joke...

Asking for a tank to have the ability to intimidate
something with no ability to be afraid is kind of a joke

    isn't it ?

I though it was kinda funny :s

I think the real issue here is the OP’s vision that DDO should be like other MMOs that have the tank/healer/dps triad.

DDO is actually a DnD themed 3rd person shooter disguised as an MMO.

It differs from other MMOs and for that reason it kept a fiercely loyal fanbase during years of drought.

Because DDO is different I feel it is a much more fun game.

You made a suggestion and people didn’t like it, so they protested with silly pictures.

    As such, here is another:
