    Question second opinion

As im always short on twigs and pebbles, i put together a rainbow group last night.

we grab the stick and throw out some buffs. the caster is carying the stick, and suggests we run past the rusties and elementals and just burn them in FW at the point you have to climb up.

a few people type or say 'ok'

so we hop down and start running, three or four seconds later our dwarven melee types into party chat "if thats the way your gonna play im out" and then drops group.

so i send him a tell, just out of curiosity which part of the run (all four minutes of it so far) he objected to , and he replied that if the light holder was gonnna run ahead he would rather not come along, does not like to zerg.

i explain we were just gonna run past the first bit and burn em, to save time and sp, that it is a fairly common strategy in this quest.

he replies he has run this quest at least 20 times and has never seen it done like that.

    20 times!

so i ask you folks if this method is so rediculous that no one does it, or if its fairly common?

    you make the call!

on a side note, if you had done something 20 times, wouldn't you be eager to see it done differently?

I played AC2, so I log in everyday expecting to see a message that the servers will be ending in 4 months. As such, every day they don't is a good day!! Play like the world will end, because it will.

That is the way I have always done it unless I am running solo on my FVS. Then substitute BB for firewall.

Never seen it done that way. Fine idea though.

What does it save though? 30 seconds?

Have run the gather them up and fw at the end method plenty of times, as I have killing them as you encourter them, prefer the former, especially when there are rust monsters and I think it is a resource saver for the quest.

Only ran it a couple of times but we always run past them and then AOE them down if possible.

No point in clearing them in small packs where everyone will probably be taking damage.

The amount of time saved depends on the gimpd factor of the members of your group.

@ OP member, the only reason we kill em at all is dungeon alert. Remember running through the quest with fom icons constantly going off over our heads

    What he said.

You don't actually need to kill them unless you've got DA problems ... just zerg on past. I've been in a number of runs where the monks, rogues, rangers who know it just keep running and climb up to the top and wait for the light-dude/tte to catch up. Once you get the feel for how that corridor runs and can remember how it climbs up kinda, you can do it in the dark.

I typically like to run to the end and nuke them in a pile.
However, if we have several WF in the group I like to kill the rusty's off one at a time.

    I knew it, you're a big meanypants!

In reality though the less time fighting rust monsters the better, I dun like the jerks. They eat my stuff! Being the cheap bastard I am I don't like having high repair bills so if someone has a way to avoid such monsters, by all means.

With my opinion expressed, maybe he had some other reason for not wanting to continue with the group that he's not telling y'all. I'd say that if he was upset by doing something different than he was used to it's probably better for the rest of you that he left

My oppinion: You should send a tell to every member of your party before starting a quest asking what their individual expectations for said quest are. Once you have all of their input, you should formulate a plan that caters to every players needs and finishes the quest with as little drama as humanly possible.

    Wait, scratch that...

My oppinion: You can zerg if you wanna, you can leave your friends behind! Cuz your friends don't zerg and if they don't zerg well then, they're no friends of mine!

Biggest thing for me isn't the time, but rather the rust monster item damage.

It saves more than 30 seconds. It may save 45 or 60.

How quickly do you want to finish?

Well that version is mildly amusing parody; painfully weak in places, oh well.

Buuuuut, it doesn't change the fact he broke the joke, it became less for his so-called fixing (actually more to the point - he shouldn't have bothered). Weeeee, got through the correction without being totally dismissive.

Wait, there's a light holder? I usually just run it in the dark unless I get stuck somewhere or need to make a jump of some sort. I was really sad when they made high gamma not work in there any more, but it's easy enough to do between the mini-map for moving and tab targeting to find things to kill.

In any case, if he was that ****ed off about not being in the light for a few seconds, you were probably better off without him. It's almost impossible to stay in the light the whole time anyways, even if everyone goes slow-ish.
