From Cannith Crystal you can get several Aid items to boost hps and a couple of DR items (slashing/piercing I believe), and from the other quests you should be able to get a weapon, a belt, and several misc. items by re-running the mayors quest... not to mention and feather fall cloak.

It should be enough to outfit you to the point where you can hop into Waterworks and run that a few times to get some more decent loot, then hop over to Delera's or Sharn Syndicate or Tangleroot Gorge - both of which drop excellent items... or if free to play, jump into Gwylan's Stand or Tear if you don't have the expansions.

The point is, start at the beginning - where you can basically get by with a sword - and work your way up quickly to a full set of gear.

Don't jump naked into a quest - especially solo - and expect not to die. Even sneaking can be tough without level appropriate skill gear.

    But to each his own.
    To each his own indeed.

As I said to Ratnix; I actually enjoy the art. It's a great way to spend half an hour, on top of getting the occasionally nice bit of gear and some cash.

But this isn't about me levelling my toons as quickly as possible to catch up with friends who are waiting for me - it's about solo stealth chest runs.

I appreciate the input/advice but it wasn't really what I was looking for, which is as much my fault for fleshing out my situation too fully, as anything else.

If you have the Sands pack, Rare Spawn runs with a group would be a much more efficient use of your time.

    Soloing and Stealth, while fun, are S L O W ....

Look for groups that are marked as "Bloodstone Runs" in the LFM.
    Tip# 203: Death is a traumatic experience.

This sounds like alot of fun. Sort of like Thief from back in the day. Sneak around, if you get seen, you die. A fun change of pace. Should do quest way over level to get the best loot and be certain that if you are seen, you will die.

Please post more places this can be done.
    Kutath: 6rogue/2ranger .
roll models: The Stainless Steel Rat, Fafhyrd the Grey Mouser, Garrett
Savoring the first run, for it will never happen again.

    Exactly =)

I was looting Threnal caves I believe at level 6 (or whatever was the absolute min at the time) as a halfling rogue. I took another rogue in my guild in after I'd gotten it down to a fine art and he was bricking it. Great fun ^^

Feats of class like this should be on every rogue's "list of things-to-do-before-I-get-old". After all...what is a rogue without thievery? And, really, does the whole game have to boil down to basically just killing things?

    Personally, I don't think so.

It sounded like form your original post you needed to get gear to adventure with your friends. My misunderstanding.

I'm not aware of many chests that are unlocked in and of themselves, most require the death of the guarding mob before opening.

I can't really say as I'd enjoy that, as I have too many toons and a guild that raids.

But there IS a thread on doing things using stealth... Rogue Proving grounds:

Try it... you might like it.

    No probs!

Yea I've been trying to get through the thread today - some great ideas there! Haven't really give much thought to hirelings as it's nice to rely on your own steam for this sort of thing but would probably be the best idea to at least open up elite on dungeons such as the tombs in the desert and CoV.

    Good times ahead ^^
