    Default Ranger animals summons

Ok - this is my 1st suggestion & I know it's probably a waste of time for many reasons, but here goes,

Ranger summons in DDO have always been lacklustre & basicly worthless. This has become even worse since U7 and the improved arcane summons choices. What is especially galling is that Rangers (along with druids) are supposed to get an animal companion. In DDO, not only don't we get said companion, our summons are so useless they might as well not be there.

So my suggestion - although I would ideally love an animal companion, ie something like an animal hireling, (nice for tempests, great for AA's) I doubt it will ever happen (maybe with the advent of the long awaited druid but I'm not holding my breath). So how about giving us some more choices when it comes to our summoning spells, including some decent animals?

    Thoughts? Comments?

Rangers were left out more than you seem to think.

Divines have the 'summon monster' spells on their caster list as well...(and thus arcanes AND divines can use summon monster scrolls to get the new list of monsters).

all the more reason why Rangers should get something like the summon monsters - & not just the 1 - 4 monsters (although it still beats thier animal summons)

when we get druids we defiantly need to have the list looked over. and that probably will happen. but not until then.

we just need to push for a animal companion when druid comes out.

I think rangers didnt get animal companion to balance out the fact they got "both" the twf feat and ranged feat lines. Though I would love animal companions or better summons that last more than 2 seconds, I doubt it will ever happen.

The problem is, Rangers don't get a level 1 summon until they are level 4... about the time Arcanes and Divines are pulling in their 3rd level summons. They won't be as useless should Druid come in, as Druids get them at level 1, 3, 5, etc... rather than 4, 8, 12, 14. Increasing the power level of Summon Nature's Ally 1 to match level 4-5 content will make Druids' first summon spell a bit much for the level 1-2 content it will be used in.
