Default Why Isn't This All Over National News??

Why on earth isn't this being covered and followed by all the news agencies? Have Americans really become so complacent that an apparently large missile of unknown origin being launched right off of our coast isn't worth getting excited about?

Way to go. Now the black helicopter people are going to erase all of our memories.

    Thanks.

Because the origin is not unknown it was a classified military test of some sort. Happens fairly often, see Area 51. Otherwise NORAD would have registered the launch and there would be a flurry of activity in the area.

The answer is yes. The American people have become so selfish and self "doctor" medicated they dont have time to worry about this type of activity...Wasnt Dancing with the Stars on when this story broke?

Don't get me wrong- I'm sure that our military knows the origin. That's actually not what bothers me. What I find frustrating and disappointing is the general public's lack of interest in this.

One measly local news station covered this story. Drudge put up a link to it. Other than that- there's really not much about it.

Because it was launched BY us and NOT AT us.

Well you have to look at the quality of our "news" orginazations as well. What is more important; this or what the President is doing overseas? The answer would depend on who you asked, and as far as most "news" orginazations go, this is not news worthy.

If you read the attached article - it's not all over every news channel because it was "caught by CBS affiliate KCBS's cameras". So, it's pretty much proprietary to CBS at this point - unless the other networks wanted to shell out the cash to license the image. No image, no story.

Also, since the military is not talking about the launch - no real story to report on either.

    Either:
It will kill me, and I won't even know I'm dead.... so who cares?
    Or:
It won't kill me, and I'll be just fine.... so who cares?

Yeah, I'm feeling pretty dis-associative today.

There are hundreds of military tests/satellite launches/etc a year it's all pretty blah stuff. We keep making better weapons so we can blow them away before they blow us away.

I'm pretty sure that when the cruiser I was on did missile quals off the coast of California we didn't alert the news media.

The CBS news report I heard this morning said the Navy denied it being one of theirs.

I think that there is more of a story here than people realize. I used some of that newfangled technology and zoomed in on the image to identify the following:

INFERUS SUS Sorcs (Socky, Sockie, Socklin), Rogues (Sockpuppet, Sockum), Clerics (Sockington, Sockase), FVS (Sockle), Intim (Tubesocks), Bards (Sockdolenger, Sockish), Rangers (Sockin, Sockel), Wizzy (Sockut), Kensai (Sockt), Monk (Sockfist), Arty (Sockficer, Sockcraft)
