That's strange FOX news has been talking about it constantly for the last 2 days, I'm getting tired of hearing about it frankly, but my boss keeps the TV on FOX.

Clearly, the maban event is part of a joint US Government/Turbine conspiracy to move people's attention away from the unidentified object in question.

Missile turns out to just be an airplane, and Turbine made the stupid decision to use an autoban system.

News feeds are back to focusing what Michelle Obama is wearing so, back to the DDO grind for me I suppose.

Hm...nuclear power generated high pressure steam, like used on carrier catapult systems (unless they're retrofitting electromag catapult systems on older carriers)...+ potato...it'll have to be a hard potato otherwise it'd probably turn into a fine mist...sounds like fun.

(adv. to nuclear power, aside from being cool is that you could sustain the launching of many, many potatoes where a gas turbine would need to have had refueled)

Standard response I was taught was to use the Sgt. Schultz defense. (Ok, they didn't really call it that.)

If asked about nuclear weapons on my ship I was to say: "I can neither confirm nor deny the presence of nuclear weapons about the USS California." with the optional "However it is against general Navy policy to carry nuclear weapons aboard surface ships."

I guess I'm still bound by that, though the USS California (CGN-36) is a former ship that has not only been decommissioned but has also been turned into scrap.

Because CBS reported it first. If the other networks cover it they'd have to admit it's a story worth covering and then they'd have to admit that they got scooped by CBS. CBS is the old people network, they still wheel out Andy Roonie's corps once in a while to BOOST ratings. Admitting that you got scooped by CBS is the media industry equivalent of a guy admitting he got beat up by his little sister... savagely... and she's 9 years old... and has muscular dystrophy.

I don't care how good the story is no media outlet be it TV, Radio or print will ever, EVER admit it got scooped by CBS. If CBS made first contact with an intelligent alien race and broadcast it live not only would no one else cover it they'd all run old episodes of Darma & Greg or Mad About You just to make it seem like there's nothing on.
