    /indifference anyway

If I see someone proxy roll, I'll just exclude them from any of my groups.
my post wasn't referring to proxy rolling. my comment was referring to the proposed idea of having only two options when you see a raid item in the chest:

    1) loot it
    2) automatically everyone gets to roll on it, item is automatically passed to winner and placed in inventory

-my problem was 2 pieces missing here, option 3) passing to a friend (because you want to for whatever reason), and the first part of option 2. what if i want the party to roll on my madstone boots, except i dont want the cleric to have the option to roll on em?

-proxy rolling is something I highly frown upon, and will squelch anyone who engages in such practice.

I agree with this. I'm also going to play the ever popular "we don't want devs wasting their precious resources on things only a small percentage of players want to see."

The simplest solution is to forget this rolling nonsense altogether: Just GIVE the item to whomever you think needs it most. Maybe that would encourage group members to pull their weight more, contribute more, and be more polite and enjoyable to group with.

After it was passed to you it is your now, so you can do anything u want with that IMO. If you lost roll on named item, its just bad luck/bad karma, or God/cosmos don't want you to get that item .

BTW, what if autorolling is implemented, and winner don't have room in backpack? Shall item stay in chest, roll is ignored, item is lost, or is looted and backpack is now overflowing?
So you don't really care huh?

You are in a full raid. Exclusive Ultimate Uber Item of Greatness drops. 5 people wish to roll on it but of those 5 people, 3 people secretly plan to pass to their friend that doesn't have that item because those 3 people already do have that item and it is exclusive so they can't have a second in their inventory. You are also one of the 5 people rolling for that item.

Instead of it being you and the other person that doesn't have the item rolling for it, you are competing against 4 other people, 3 of which secretly plan on passing it to their friend.

This practice is shady because it is stacking the deck instead of being a fair roll. It is in a way giving that person 3 other rolls instead of one.

If you do practice this, I don't want to be in your group. I don't want to have to roll against you and your friends.

I do feel that it is your loot to do as you please. I also don't have to run with you or your friends or let you or your shady friends roll on loot that may drop in my name.

As I said I'm indifferent to the original suggestion. I'll just blacklist the proxy rollers.

Backpacks CAN overflow you know...? That's already supported/implemented today.

The idea needs some tweaking but it's good. Making the items auto-loot will prevent people from doing stupid proxy rolls.
In case you didn't already notice, my posts that end with must NEVER EVER, under any circumstances, be taken seriously.

Remember what I underlined in #1. Who says you have to use the auto roller. The auto roller is for the lazy and don't care.

    T-down.

This game isn't like WoW where you share the loot in the chest. Your loot is your loot, and you are free to do with as you wish. They didn't spawn the nice loot? And you did? Too bad. It's yours. If you don't want it, sell it or give it to one of them or your friend, but it's not up for gable unless you say so.

    And you can't have it!
...Well maybe if you bring me some healing potions, a dagger and a scroll...

Here's the big deal. My loot is my loot right? I can do with it what I want, agreed?

Okay let's say I get a piece of named raid loot that I can't use or don't need. I can do what I want with it right?
So what I want is for the winner of a fair roll that will use the item to get it. If you roll for your friend with the intention of passing it to him then he in effect gets 2 rolls while everyone else only gets 1. The roll is no longer fair and your shenanigans have whizzed on my right to do what I want with my loot.

That's what the fuss is about.

Hope this clears that up a bit,
