    Unhappy Epic Crystal Mistake

So last night I finally won a scroll and was able to complete my Epic Antique Greataxe. Additionally, I had more than enough tokens to buy an Augment Crystal of Heaven's Light and toss the Good damage type on it so I could have a BB that I could feel proud of.

I make the axe and link it in guild chat and to some friends for the well earned grats. Meanwhile, I was navigating Misty's various chat boxes to check out the red crystal options and ensure that Good was what I wanted. I had just finished my perusal of the various crystal options when a friend whispered me asking what I was up to. I hit enter to respond to him, only instead of popping a cursor up in the chat window, Misty's chat box closed and a big message popped up in the middle of my screen.

You place the Red Augment Crystal of Eternal Darkness in your Large Ingredients Bag.

Turns out my cursor was floating closest to that option in Misty's dialogue box and hitting enter was, of course, the equivalent to clicking mouse1.

Now, this wouldn't be a huge issue except that there is no way, even through GM intervention, to refund any of the 30 epic tokens or trade out for a different crystal. Additionally, the crystals are bound to character so I don't even have the option to work out some kind of trade, not that anyone actually wants to add Evil damage type to epic weapons, but at least it'd be an option.

So I'm out 30 tokens and I have a (near) useless crystal wasting a slot in my ingredients bag. Sure I could put it in my greataxe, but it'd cost another 4 tokens just to put it in and subsequently clear it off and that's just insult to injury.

As I am much less upset today than I was last night, I can accept this. 30 tokens is maybe a weeks worth of epics with how many I run. The purpose of this thread is not to whine about my loss, but to show that it is impressively easy to mystically end up with an augment crystal you don't want (even easier than making the wrong GS mat) and can't get rid of (at least you can sell/trade incorrect GS mats), and to question whether there shouldn't be someway to get at least a portion of the cost of such an error back.

A very simple solution would be to allow an augment crystal to be placed in the epic crafting device all by its lonesome to be crunched down into 2/3's or 3/4's of the tokens it cost to purchase. This would prevent players from just trading crystals out at will, but keep mistakes from hitting quite so hard.

If anyone else has been burned by that swindling hussy, Misty, post here supporting some way to recuperate those losses.

I wish I could offer something constructive. I feel for ya, though.

Those text menus are horrible anyway, the navigation changes depending on which branch of the tree you are in and some times there is no way to back out and have to restart.

Misty is an ideal candidate for switching over to the same trade-in system they were using for the Endless Night festival.

Stuff like this does happen. I still remember the time somebody threw a greater teleport (in the Reaver) and that +3 tome I wanted oh-so-desperately was lost forever.

Yes, it's a true and personal story.

Call it a quirk of placement of the message windows despite knowing it's happened to others...and always being careful to watch for teleports...and clicking slowly.

    Just bad timing.

Sorry for the thread Necro, but just want to verify that:
Red Augment Crystal of Eternal Darkness is NOT what I would want to use in an Epic Chimera's Fang?
I would want to use the Red Augment Crystal of Heaven's Light?

The description of DR/bypassing makes my head hurt.

The Heaven's Light augment crystal does GOOD damage and therefore bypasses EVIL DR?

Doing Good typed damage bypasses DR X/Good. Arraetrikos has DR X/Good and DR X/Silver. Therefore, you want to add Good to your weapon that does Silver damage.

There are targets that have DR X/Evil, but they are in general uninteresting.

Antique's righteous prefix bypasses good DR so not sure why would you want Heaven's Light anyway :-/

Thanks, that's what I thought but then I started overthinking things...
