Default why should I buy favored soul?

what is the favoured soul's advantages over other classes, mostly the cleric. Also, is there anything a Favoured soul gets that other classes dont get, anything the FvS doesn't get? how does the favored soul work? how would you rate it? Is the FvS worth its price?

needless to say, should i spend my valuable DDO store points on the Favored soul?

The favored soul is the sorc to the clerics wizard. They have a lot more power behind the more limited spells they cast. Or to put it another way, FVS is a specialist and Cleric is a generalist.

I would recommend you grind out the favor for it, but I'm told its a long grind (I am still grinding Champion). Its also impossible unless you own some packs.
The problem is never how to get new, innovative thoughts into your mind, but how to get old ones out. Every mind is a building filled with archaic furniture. Clean out a corner of your mind and creativity will instantly fill it.

I didn't buy it, but unlocked it through favor.

It's my favorite class - it heals as well as a cleric, is incredibly survivable (with high HP and excellent elemental resists) and at levels 17 and 20 gets truly amazing abilities ('wings' at 17, the ultimate in maneuverability and speed, and DR 10 at 20 which takes the bite out of a lot of attacks.

If you like clerics, you probably want to try a FvS.
    I don't have a zerging problem.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.

Favored Soul can be unlocked with Favor. It is up to you whether you want to go that route or not. As far as differences; it is like the differences between a Sorc and a Wizard. Also, FvS get the Leap of Faith ability at 17th (which I have found to be very addicting).

Let me put it this way: I TRed my FvS into a ranger...once i got to lev 7 I bought 2 +3 hearts to reincarnate to FvS because I cannot play anything else.

With the right blend of stats you can have strong melee, healing, offensive casting and crowd control...really all you cannot do is disable traps, but that's about it!

You can solo anything without a problem, you can play as a melee DPS in a group, back-up heal or main heal...

Personally I do not see any reason to play anything else.

But, hey, that's just my opinion!

I get asked this a lot while on my FvS.

My answer is always the same...Do you like to Micro manage or Macro Manage?

See FvS gets less spells per level and 1 level later than a cleric. same as the sorc vs wiz argument. Not that many spells for healers that get me cringing at that. I hardly ever swap spells out unless it's for hound. Clerics get to swap out spells FvS don't.

Clerics however do get spontaneous casting which means they get the cure spells for free when available whereas a FvS has to choose them as part of their slots for each spell level. This excludes heal and mass heal as clerics need to choose them as well.

Clerics get bonus healing through their turns and radiant servant PrE whereas FvS has none. Clerics also get fun clickies based off their turns like Divine Vitality etc. FvS have none.

FvS requires a high wisdom like a cleric for their spell difficulty check, FvS require charisma though for spells per rest (or sp pool) whereas clerics still use Wisdom.

Looking like it's cleric in the lead huh? Well that's where my question comes in.
Micro management is a cleric where you will be watching sp use, trying to balance sp with resources (scrolls and wands), turning metamagics on and off. You can with the right items get a decent enough sp pool. The capstone is useful as well.

FvS is a good sp pool reaching high amounts easily with low investment in cha, items giving sp grant double, metamagics are generally always on due to lazy management and not needing to worry. And then the clincher....FvS are fun! Wings at lvl 17 mean you're ahead of barbs and monks and throwing around bb's, you've got that fun DR that allows you to take some melee damage easily and you have a capstone that isn't strong, but allows you more fun. You have an sp pool that means ppl will ask you to solo quests as it's faster and you begin to zerg like a maniac, giggling as you leap of faith, bb, destruct, cometfall and annoy melees who can't keep up

It's preference really. I suggest a person plays a cleric to learn how to use sp effectively and then move onto a FvS so you learn how to use that sp aggresively and effectively.
Don't let common sense stop you...

For Leap of Faith. No other reason required.
