Casting Level Bug

I had just recently spec'ed into pale master and was giving it a go when I noticed my death aura ticking for single digit healing. It wasn't all the time, but every so often I'd get a string of really low numbers when the spell says it does 2d4 + 1 per caster level (I'm level 20). Thought it might have just been a random glitch since we all know these things happen from time to time after updates. However, while running to an airship port I cast an extended haste for 12 seconds. Given the haste time and the aura ticks, I'm going to say that periodically I'm casting spells as a level 1 wizard. I was wondering if anyone else has had similar problems with any of their characters.

Melee'ing will cause the aura to tick for a significantly smaller amounts. Additionally, changing certain items seems to have an effect on it. There's a thread in here somewhere.

The death aura ticks are just standing there and watching it go from say 8 to 27. I'm also wondering why I was able to cast a 12 second haste at level 20.

I'm a level 12 pm and while I haven't got the AP yet for lich form I notice fairly frequently that my aura ticks for pet healing in the 6-10 mark.
