    Default Is dragonmark all that?

When I lesser reincarnated my pure fighter, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do exactly other than fix her up some so I've taken 2 of the dragonmark feats so far, and she's about to turn 20.

Fighters have a ton of feats, so I will probably take the third one for now, but I'm sure I'll lesser reincarnate her again and am wondering if I should keep the feats or not.

I've found them helpful when soloing or duoing, but for any of the high end slayer I usually take a cleric hireling since they are just cheaper than pots.

What's the current thinking on halfling dragonmark? Anyone using them on a feat-starved class??

If you're feat-starved then there are almost certainly better things.. however on a class where theres plenty of feats the trade-off for increased survivability is very nice.
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was, now what's it is weird and scary to me.

I'll agree that they are extremely nice in the earlier levels, or if you solo/short-man a lot.
At level 9, with the full line, they're ridiculously powerful.
At level 20, they're emergency healing only.

Apart from whether or not you can spare the feats, it also depends at least in part on what (if anything) you can do to boost their output, too. E.g., Thanimal's Quad-H takes a wizard splash so it can take Empower & Maximize for +150% output from the Least & Lesser DMs; I posted a couple of ftr / paladin builds in this thread which squeeze in a couple of metamagics & pally Devotion for boosted heals.

On my Acrobat, I have the full line. I have only been back in the game for about 5 weeks and I started from scratch. I like the healing dm for the money saved from not using heal scrolls, I also do not have heal scroll no fail since I am still gearing up, so I took a level of wizard for free metamagic. My current build is 12/6/1 rogue, monk, wizard. This gave me alot of feats to pick. I chose this patch for the survivability it brings when being short on money. With the extra feats I have maximise and empower. With superior potency, meta's, and healing amp my cures effect me for

    CLW: 50ish x9
    CSW: 140ish x7
Heal: 295 (not effected by metamagics) x5

In the end the dragonmarks help alot with survivability at the cost of lower dps. When I am able to no fail heal scrolls and I am a bit richer, I would probably drop them all together, and tr the wizard level out, but for now they work great.

I say all that to say this. The healing dragonmarks can be great while leveling, but for most builds once you are geared up the healing they bring can be offset with scrolls. They are also rather weak unless buffed through meta's and superior potency, so unless I could fit that in the build, I probably wouldn't use them at all.

Halfling mark with maximize is a life saver, it is as fast as paladin's hands and can't be interrupted in combat.
It's worth the puzzled looks on your party members when you save them from wipe and they can't figure out what happened.

On the other hand all marks are useful on your first toons but can be safely dropped once you get experience or TR.
For example if your first wizard was halfling for the marks alone your next life need not be halfling.

The marks are good for a pure fighter ( who has plenty of feats to spare ).

Place a superior devotion or potency weapon on your quick bar, and hot swap before using. Take into consideration that almost all melee go for healing amp of some sort as well, and the marks end up being a nice little " Oh ****!!!! " button when things go south.

Just don't expect to heal a party, or the marks to be your only means of healing, and you'll be happy with them IMHO.

They work very well on my halfling wizard. The feats and metamagic are there, and he is usually in a better position to survey the battle and help out with spot healing and picking people up off the ground. A sorcerer could do the same with UMD, but they are free, and can be used with the meta feats. I originally started him when you could use wands and heal scrolls. The bottom line is that whenever I play with him, I make the healer look really good. Also, the only time he dies is when I am out of mana and dragonmarks, or do something stupid.

I have been toying with trying the dm's out with a cleric or fvs, but since those are feat starved classes, I don't know how well it will work out. The main reason I am thinking about testing this is to have my healing spells on different timers, and be able to save a good portion of my mana for offensive spells. That, and I just love to try new things.

Agreed... with a superior potency 6 item / ranger devotion 4 / empower healing / 10% & 20% heal amp on item and another 25% heal amp from sun stance i heal for 704 hp 5 times a rest... very nice panic button

    running on a 15 ranger / 3 wizard / 2 monk - non tr build atm
