Default Frequent Crashes, BSOD's after last update

Since the last update, I've had multiple instances of the client crashing to desktop and BSOD's. This has not occurred with any other game I tested on afterward (ME2, Dragon Age Origins, BioShock, Fallout etc. etc.).

I gave the DDO client the benefit of a doubt by first checking my system, running hardware diags (all passed), checking minidumps with driver verifier enabled (varied problems, but mostly pointing to memory - memtests show no problems, hardware diags for everything else all passed), re-installing the game (high-res version downloaded), re-installing Vista (32-bit updated) and the DDO client along with disabling/enabling different drivers(updated), turning off the firewall/removing AV software, to try and narrow down the problem.
I've tried tweaking the game settings, going to DX9, messing around with Video and Audio also.

As for now, after doing all that, I can occasionally play the game for some length of time before it crashes, but when it does crash, the crashes come in bunches, this is making the game nearly unplayable and I'm nearly ready to cancel my subscription out of frustration. This problem still occurs with only with DDO. I've done what I could on my end.

Default Two dmps from this morning

These are the mini-dumps for today so far. While older dmps also faulted memory, tests show my hardware is good, and this problem still occurs only with DDO. I've already dealt with drivers (updating/enabling/disabling/rolling back).

    IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (a)
An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an
interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high. This is usually
caused by drivers using improper addresses.
If a kernel debugger is available get the stack backtrace.

There are a whole lot of people experiencing the same kind of crashes/ problems. Ive tried numerous things to solve the crashes I'm experiencing, but no go.
I, like yourself have no problem with other games or applications

This happened when update 7 came online.

Any updated word on this? I'm getting the same thing here, mostly on a toon Ive been trying to run through the orchard for taps, but it has caused me to crash a couple times on another toon as well (havent played others yet since). Switching between DX9/DX10 seemed to have little effect as I crash in both.

Try deleting or renaming DDO's UserPreferences.ini and see if the problems stops, works for me when I encounter frequent BSoD after a update or hardware change?

Windows XP: Documents and Settings\Dungeons and Dragons Online folder and renamed UserPreferences to something else.

In windows 7 and Vista you can find the folder here: C:\Users\{USERNAME}\Documents\Dungeons and Dragons Online.
HEY, I'M TRYING TO SOLVE THAT!
    STOP TOUCHING MY PUZZLE!
TOUCH MY PUZZLE ONE MORE TIME AND YOU'LL BE SORRY!
PEOPLE LIKE YOU ARE WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS GAME -- I QUIT! AND YOU SHALL DIE!

Recieved e-mail from tech support. The following did not work for me, but may work for others. I'm still recieving client crashes and BSOD's. Posting another minidump below the support email (process name references dndclient.exe)

    "Greetings,
Thank you for contacting Turbine Technical Support. Please open the folder "My Documents" or “Documents” > “Dungeons and Dragons Online” and in there open the “Userpreferences.ini” file and make the following changes in the [Display] section:
    Change "AllowFakeFullScreen=True" to False
    Change "SyncToRefresh=False" to True
Verify that the number following "Resolution=" matches your current Windows desktop resolution.
Change "Antialiasing=" to Disabled if set to 2x/4x etc. (eg. Antialiasing=Disabled )
    Change "AllowDesktopCompositing=False" to True
Under [Render] change "GraphicsCore" to D3D9 (ie. GraphicsCore=D3D9 )
Exit the file and choose yes when prompted to save prior to launching the game to test these settings.
Some additional settings changes can be made from the in-game Options menu:
Under "ADV Graphics" disable the "Player Mesh Combining" setting
Lower the "Player Crowd Quality Control" slider to 0
Under Audio if currently using a "Hardware" mode, change this to one of the "Software" settings and ensure that "Use EAX" is disabled
Under the Troubleshoot section lower the Engine Speed to Medium initially
Set the Maximum Frames Per Second slider to 57.
    Thank you,
    The Turbine Customer Service Team"

    Default You Rock

    Escrimador ,
we greatly appreciate all the work you did collecting those logs and other data
The time and energy you spent brought the joy of DDO back into our lives when gameplay seemed lost forever.
Also, you posting all on the forums including the reply they sent was very generous.
You are a valued member of the community!
    Many thanks!

Np, Jacq. I figure, if they send a solution, even if it doesn't work for myself, that it might work for other people.

The following is the second support e-mail they sent. I haven't had a chance to try it, since i've been away from my desktop for a few days, and it is a variation of Bladedge's suggestion.

    "Greetings John,

Thank you for your reply. Please attempt the steps below:

    1. Rename the "userpreferences.ini" file (eg. olduserpreferences.ini)
    2. Relaunch the game, log in, and pause at the "server select" list
    3. Before logging in click the first button in the row in the upper right-corner (the one with the single down-arrow on it)
    4. Choose Options from the menu

In there under the "Repair" tab click to enable the "Reset game display settings option, click ok, and then select your server and launch again to test. At this point if prompted to enable DirectX 10 or 11 graphics choose no.

    Thank you,
    The Turbine Customer Service Team

With all this info you never mentioned whether you have updated your video card drivers since the update. This could really be the cause of your problems if you haven't. Now I know other people have mentioned that this problem is happening so it might not work. But it is worth a try. Also make sure you are not getting your drivers from a 3rd party make sure to get them from ati. Hope this helps.

actually, i do mention it, but thx for trying to help...was going to say it was also in the dxdiag, but that shows one that I rolled back to, when I was trying to find a version that would work

Sorry if I came off a bit rude on that last post and yes you did mention it in the dxdiag. But as I am lazy I never even considered that I could look up what version the 4800 is on. Sorry about that. Again just chalk it down to my lazyness. I hope someone can help you on this but I have been hearing a lot about these problems popping up since the last update. Again good luck to you.

    Angry

still crash with this week mainteinance.

& technical support mail is stopped.

... so i think, turbine still dont know course of this problem & ignoring us.
because only few ppl r experiencing this crash things.

ppl with this problem saying it occured with update 7(-> client program), but turbine is keep saying to change user's pc/game setting.

    this is ridiculous.

Angry BSOD frequent crashes - Win 7 (32bit)

    [\QUOTE]
=escrimador;3397482 Recieved e-mail from tech support.

Yea i'm getting the same problem Escrim, just tried that fix that you so kindly posted! thanks! unfortunately it didn't work for me so we're both in the same boat with no paddle .... i'm convinced now that its the game that's causing the BSOD... anyone have any ideas on other things to try? does the support team for DDO read these forums? is there another place that I need to go to contact support? any advice or help will be greatly appreciated... I miss the game
