    Default Paladin/monk WF- please comment

Hi, i currently have a lvl 20 monk, was thinking of going pal/monk for my next TR and get the past life, i would definitely prefer to do a WF and use handwraps and i dont mind the -50% healing amp. i wanted to know the pros and cons of this and see if it would be a good idea. im not very familiar with the Paladin class.

i was looking at the solar phoenix build, would it work for WF? seeing as this build kind of takes care of the WF healing amp i dont see too much of a problem

I based a build on "the solar phoenix" one, but changed to unarmed fighting WF. This goes along the lines of what i hope my monk to be. Im not sure if it would work out but im all ears .

So... a lot of the pally damage comes from getting crits on the smites and DSs. For this reason, the low crit chance of unarmed combat really hurts their dps. So while most classes with a monk splash will do more damage with unarmed, pallies with monk splashes do much less.

For that reason, the pally/monk is one of the few combinations that makes Whirling Steel Strike worthwhile.

Otherwise... idk, with Healing Amp, the more you have, the more each further increase is worth, so you do lose a lot by not going human.

I'm not sure about the DPS output of the Solar Phoenix, maybe someone else should comment on it.

There's hardly any point to doing this with WF, and yeah like Tsuarok said you would be better off not unarmed.
    WF Pros:
-2 higher base Con, you don't take advantage of this in this build
-Some immunities that monk and pally already have most of
    -A couple combat enhancements
    -Arcane healing (repairs)
-More racial toughness, which you don't take advantage of
    -WF Con enhancements
    WF Cons:
-2 lower base Wis and Cha, which you need...
-Human would have an extra feat
-Human would have an extra skill point
-Way less healing amp, you don't even take all of the healer's friends, even with all possible healing amp enhancements, if you do this build you will use healing ki which is divine, so less healing

I highly doubt that this is a good idea.

EDIT: Solar Phoenix is a good idea if you like some monk stuff but like pallies too.
It sounds like you like monks a lot, so I would recommend a split with more monk levels. I currently have a 12Monk/8Pally build that I like a lot, it uses healing ki and healing amp too.

The only advantage I can see a Warforged bring to this particular build is Hold immunity. And your Will saves should be good enough on most any other race that it should not be a concern.

    Yes. Either that or non-WF.

    I'm currently leveling a Paladin/Monk. I plan on going Pally 14/Monk 6, Hunter of the Dead II/Shinto I.

I mostly solo, but I have a set group that I will mostly be playing with when I group. I'm planning him as a support character that can do okay damage, so I'm gearing the enhancements towards buffing and debuffing.

I'm 2/2 now, and just picked up Whirling Steel. I have to say my enjoyment of playing him doubled when I got that. I know he probably won't be the best possible build for endgame, but it's fun to play and that's what matters to me.
