Default choosing granted feats early = loss of a feat?

I just started a ranger and chose to customize my own path, as opposed to choosing the "tempest" path. However, I was ignorant of the fact that rangers are automatically given the two-weapon fighting feat at 2nd level and chose it as my feat. My question is: when I get to second level, will I get to choose a different feat, or will it be wasted?

DDO is incredibly unforgiving on build mistakes. For me, following a build I saw on the forums for my first character has helped alot-but I still almost messed it up. (So why is toughness not a fighter bonus feat?)

I would not use any of the Turbine pre-built paths as they are less effective than other builds. You can see improvements to these basic paths here: http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=147492 (templates for new players). I would highly recommend using the character generator to plan a custom build as the order you take class levels (if multiclass) and feats/enhancements is not easy to do on the fly-see here: http://www.rjcyberware.com/DDO/DDOCharGen.html.

    Good luck-its a fun game.

EDIT: Actually ArgentMage posted the link to the improved paths I meant to post-see post #7.

There is a quest in the market, near the auctioneer, that will grant you a free feat swap with Fred in house J.

OP Level 1 takes like 10 minutes to roll thru... My advice, reroll over.

@ Kale- Actually, DDO is very forgiving of mistakes.

Option 1 Reroll. Star already won DDO so the competition is over

Opton 2 Flawed/Imperfect/Syb Shards will let you swap out any feat as you level w/o re-rolling. These drop everywhere, so you don't need to buy them.

Option 3 Lesser/Greater/True Reincarnation-This allows you to COMPLETELY rebuild your character. Of course here... Hearts don't drop near as frequently, so Turbine Points might be in order. I've TR'd MANY Times and have yet to buy Hearts.

Levels 1-5/6 are pretty fast to get thru if you know the quests or get in a good group. If you make a mistake, learn from it and re-roll.

Just remember to enjoy the ride.

Which would be just as grievous a waste as TWF on a Ranger at level 1. For Rangers especially keeping that freebie to change out Favored Enemies is always a good idea, not to mention having a freebie waiting for you should you decide to try out a different feat later in your character's life.

OP - just reroll. It won't take any time to catch up to where you are.

Along with many, I would also advise you to start over. But mainly this advise is
given because if you're not familiar with the rules for building DDO characters, this
type of thing will happen again. But the next time, it might happen when you are
8th or 9th level, and then you'll be very disappointed. If you happen to make it
to 12th level or higher, and then find a serious flaw, you'll have to decide if you
want to reincarnate or start over.

In any case, there are some very nice builds out there that you will almost certainly
enjoy playing, and I think you'll find it more enjoyable to not worry about the build
    and just learn the game.

You can't go wrong picking one of these:

Why not use the free feat exchange to swap it?

Because early on feat exchanges are very cheap. Later on they get very expensive and it's good to save up that free exchange for one of those times.

He's like level 2 now...he's losing nothing by rerolling. By burning his free feat swap, he's potentially losing a LOT later on when he finds a legitimate feat to change out.

    Agreed. Reroll.

Better yet, spend a little coin on Veteran Status and 32 Point Builds, then reroll. Also, check out The Ranger on the DDOWiki, so you don't accidentally pick up another feat you'll end up getting later on in life..
