bard- inspire courage

so having used some bard hirelings
ive noticed it is almost impossible to get them so sing inspire courage
even if its on their bar...
why?
anyone know how to make them sing it?
all i want is inspire courage and a haste

Two days ago after reading an enthusiastic post about bard hirelings I gave them a try with my lvl 14 barb in reavers refuge (well, not so fair to him, but at least it was kinda quick testing )

While he is stubborn at first with songs, for me he started to play them whenever I switched him between active and passive mode. After I did it the first time and went into fights he also started automatically to play a few times, but that is more random.

Still prefer the clerics for my barb.

I have had the same problem with the hirelings. Usually if u make the bard cast a buff first, like blur, or haste he becomes less stingy with the songs and starts singing.

I have only tried the L4 bard Hireling, I think it has only been once he wouldn't sing for me, If I recall correctly we were in Mid fight when I asked him to sing a song.

So far for the low levels I like the FvS Hireling over the Cleric.
