Informations about Ioun Stones

I have some issues with Ioun Stones. On EU DDO, I found quite a few of them on lower levels. But in over one year on Cannith now, I have not found a single one.

Am I just unlucky, or do I play the wrong quests? Where do Ioun Stones typically drop, any specific quest? Where do I have to farm to find one?

The Loot Thread states it's a random drop for every Ioun Stone, but I don't believe that, I have looted a lot of chests in that year on Cannith.

It's probably a luck thing.

The minimum levels for the stones have also dropped since the Dreamforge unlocks were added, so it's possible they are falling in lower level quests than you are used to searching for them in.

The only place I've personally heard of them dropping often is in the Depths series in House Deneith on elite.

Your best bet is ransacking Harbor endrewards.
Farming Ringleader and Durk on a level 20 toon is tedious but at least it is fast.

I pulled my only Ioun Stone off of a rare in Water Works. The only other Ioun Stone I've seen pulled was also in a rare's chest in Water Works. In both of these drops, it was the lesser-sought-after Dark Blue.

I have heard rumors of people pulling stones from Depth series and other quests. All I can tell for sure is that out of 3 ioun stones I pulled myself all 3 were from Harbor endrewards.

It is most certainly a luck thing...

I've never (since launch) pulled a random loot item with the exception of Gargamol's chest in the sub (Dwarven Thrower/Mace of Smiting). I've seen others get them..but never myself. I've also never seen any of these items drop in a quest higher level than stormcleave (think thats ML8)...once again, with the exception of Gargamol (but I've never seen an Ion Stone in that chest either)

I'm thinking you were extremely lucky on EU if you pulled quite a few of them...Ive been playing for about 2 years and I have only pulled 1, farming Harbor quests makes sense, since the Ioun stones are level 2 loot and the quests are level 2.

Have received 2 from chests in Tear as well. They are definitely a lower level reward/chest item.

I've only got 2 ioun stones during my entire time playing the game, and both before they added suppressed power. They're rare, and only drop in certain level loot tables. It would be nice if they dropped in all loot tables since they can be much more widely used now.


It probably makes them rarer too because they bind on equip, meaning most will never even make it to the AH.

I pulled a Pink and Green Ioun Stone from the end reward list of Skyros' Jewel a couple weeks back. So it seems the stat ones can come from a level 10 quest.

I've pulled 2 in 4 years, so its pretty much a luck thing.

For the people that pulled them from harbor quests, were they the stat stones or the previously low level ones like +1 ac and power III?

On topic, I pulled a pale lavender from one of the optional chests in Delera's part 1. Pulled a couple of the protection ones (forgot the color); one from WW chest and one from another harbor end reward. Running with friends, I've seen one pulled from Harverdasher, one from butcher's path and one from Durks, in the chests.

A good place to farm is Irestone. Lots of chests of the appropriate level.

The old ones without Suppressed Power are still 9 and mostly useless. The new ones are more entertaining.

You're meaning when upgraded.

Items upgraded before Update 6 are still Level 9, BtA.

Upgraded after Update 6 (and currently), Level 5, BtC.
