Default Barbarian Intimidation - Useful Much?

    Barbarian Intimidation
Requires One of: Barbarian Frenzied Berserker II, Improved Intimidate IV
Available to Barbarian class level 12
Targets that you successfully intimidate become shaken with fear and suffer a -2 penalty on attack rolls, saves, and skill checks.

I had been building a Barbarian DR intimitank, and had planned to pick up this enhancement after grabbing Intimidate IV. However, I did a respec in order to boost DPS through the Frenzied Berserker prestige as I hit level 12. With this build respec, my Intimidate skill is lower; but I still manage to succeed on most of the trash I face, so I'm still tempted to pick up Barbarian Intimidation.

Is the "shaken" debuff all that useful in many game situations between levels 12-20? The -2 to saves looks the most promising to me. Also, would making enemies shaken somehow combo with other party members' fear spells/effects to make them fully frightened? I'm trying to find some sort of synergies which might make this enhancement useful to the parties I'm in.

Thanks in advance for your advice! I'm still very new to DDO, so I greatly appreciate listening to the experienced players in the game!

    Really?

    Why?

.... anywhooo, unless I absolutely need to, I rarely intimidate. I leave that to the pali/agro/hate tanks.

I used to use Barbarian Intimidation in combination with Fearsome armour/emerald claw necklace. It actually made pretty good crowd control, especially in the glorious month when feared monsters cowered in corners.

Now I just use it to help land stuns/trips.

I'm planning on going the Silver Flame route instead of the Emerald Claw, but it's nice to know that Barbarian Intimidation can combo nicely with the Fearsome stuff! Landing trips with this excited me the most, and I've been thinking about picking up Stunning Blow as a future feat.

Thanks so much for the advice and input, everyone!

I'm a little confused here... How does intimidate help with trip?

If you succeed on intimidate while having the Barbarian Intimidation enhancement, they become shaken. This gives them -2 to all saves.

Oh, gotcha. I didn't know that barbarians got extra intim effects- just looked it up.

As the above said, but also, with intim, all the trash comes to you. With a 2HW your trip and SB can proc on a glancing blow (seems to be at a lower DC), so more trash=more trips as well.

It wouldn't help with the initial Trip as it's a str/dex check but the -2 balance may help keep them down longer.

I'll be honest with you: a barb that uses Supreme Cleave should be as trusted as a halfling barb or a barb that uses a shield on a regular basis. Meaning: they shouldn't be.

The only barbs I've seen use Supreme Cleave are the same barbs who believe that it's possible and desireable for a barb to have a high AC
    .

No self respecting barb should use Supreme Cleave. It has 1 purpose: to get you Frenzied Berserker. That's it.

It shouldn't be on hotbar, on a hotkey, on anything. It should be seen and forgotten within seconds and never brought up again

It's a no-save AOE debuff that costs you 2 Action Points (assuming you have FBII anyway)... +2 AC for everyone, -2 on saves for the mobs...

I use it ALL the time.

    Every barbarian should have it.

What is a decent INT score? I've tried it in the past and never worked.

What is the AOE radius? I've tried it over and over and it never seems to do jack. Do you need to be right up on the guy or something?

nay, what you need is intimidation skill score. press C in-game, go to "skills", and look up intimidation. you'll want a good score on that, all the way till 60s or 70s when you're level 20. it depends on CHA as the stat, not INT.
